Bioactive food components and their inhibitory actions in multiple platelet pathways
A comprehensive overview of platelet multifunctional roles in CVD and other diseases and the effects of food components' modulatory effects are described. Abstract In addition to hemostasis and thrombosis, blood platelets are involved in various processes such as inflammation, infection, immunobiology, cancer metastasis, wound repair and angiogenesis ...

Abstract Icaritin has potential anticancer effects on various cancers, including multiple myeloma (MM). Recent studies claim that Icaritin can regulate the expression of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) in cancer development. This study aimed to investigate the role of circular RNA_0000190 (circ_0000190) and functional mechanism in Icaritin‐treated MM.

Activation of proestrogens from hops (Humulus lupulus L.) by intestinal microbiota; Conversion of isoxanthohumol into 8-prenylnaringenin [PDF]
Hop, an essential ingredient in most beers, contains a number of prenylflavonoids, among which 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN) would be the most potent phytoestrogen currently known. Although a number of health effects are attributed to these compounds, only a

Bioavailability and Cardiometabolic Effects of Xanthohumol: Evidence from Animal and Human Studies
Xanthohumol, the main prenylflavonoid in hops, is associated with various health benefits. Animal studies show that its intake positively affects risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as obesity and impaired lipid metabolism. Evidence suggests that xanthohumol may also promote cardiovascular health in human, but there is a need of intervention ...

Prenylflavonoids from Flourensia fiebrigii
Three compounds: (2S)-8-(3''-methylbut-2''-enyl)-7,3',4'-trihydroxyflavanone, (2S)-8-(3''-methyl-4''-hydroxy-but-2''-enyl)-7,3',4'-trihydroxyflavanone and (2S)-8-(3''-methyl-4''-hydroxy-but-2''-enyl)-5,3',4'-trihydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone, along with five previously known compounds, were isolated from the aerial parts of Flourensia fiebrigii.

Plant Natural Flavonoids Against Multidrug Resistant Pathogens
Isopentenylated flavonoids such as α‐mangostin and isobavachalcone are efficacious against multidrug‐resistant Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative pathogens with permeabilized outer membrane. Both α‐mangostin and isobavachalcone display rapid bactericidal activities through distinctive modes of action by targeting bacterial membrane phospholipids ...

Prenylflavonoids counteract ovariectomy-induced disturbances in rats
The aim of the study was to investigate in animal model the influence of hops prenylflavonoids on hot flashes and bone loss. Xanthohumol (XN) and hop prenylflavonoids extract (HOP) restored twenty-four-hour variability of tail skin temperature in ovariectomized rats.
