Primary neurons that express the L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate during early development in the zebrafish [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
In zebrafish, many nerve pathways in both the CNS and periphery are pioneered by a small and relatively simple set of ‘primary’ neurons that arise in the early embryo.

Organellar carbon metabolism is co-ordinated with distinct developmental phases of secondary xylem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Subcellular compartmentation of plant biosynthetic pathways in the mitochondria and plastids requires coordinated regulation of nuclear encoded genes, and the role of these genes has been largely ignored by wood researchers. In this study, we constructed

The Struggle for Rents in a Schumpterian Economy [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a two-sector endogenous growth model with a dual labour market. Trade unions strive for the extraction of as high a rent as possible from the growth generating imperfectly competitive primary sector.

Arabidopsis thaliana GH3.9 influences primary root growth

open access: yesPlanta, 2007
Auxins regulate a complex signal transduction network to direct plant development. Auxin-responsive genes fit into three major classes: the so-called auxin/indole-3-acetic acid (Aux/IAA), the GH3, and the small auxin-up RNA (SAUR) gene families. The 20-member Arabidopsis thaliana GH3 gene family has been subdivided into three groups.

Primary cilia in growth plates orchestrate long bone development

open access: yesFundamental Research
The growth plate plays a crucial role in long bone development and elongation, housing stem cells that contribute to bone formation. This study investigates the role of primary cilia, specialized organelles that regulate stem cell fate, in the ...

Defective growth hormone secretion in primary microcephaly

open access: yesThe Journal of Pediatrics, 1974
The 24 hr variations of plasma growth hormone (GH) and/or GH secretion provoked by oral glucose load or by insulin-induced hypoglycemia were studied in five microcephalic children. Low levels of GH and, especially, complete lack of secretory episodes were detected in three of the five children, two of whom were brothers.

Early feeding practices and eating behaviour in preschool children: The CORALS cohort

open access: yesMaternal and Child Nutrition
This study aimed to investigate if the duration of breastfeeding and the method at initiation of complementary feeding affect eating behaviour in children aged 3−6 years.
