Renin dependent hypertension caused by accessory renal arteries
Background Hypokalemia in the presence of hypertension is often attributed to primary hyperaldosteronism as a cause of secondary hypertension, however secondary hyperaldosteronism may present similarly.

Background Cushing’s syndrome (CS) is a rare disorder caused by prolonged hypercortisolism leading to increased morbidity and mortality. Hypertension in Cushing’s syndrome could be caused by multiple mechanism including primary hyperaldosteronism from co-

Rhabdomyolysis as first presentation of the Conn’s syndrome: a clinical case
Primary hyperaldosteronism is the leading cause of secondary hypertension, often presented with hypokalemia and even rare with its consequences. We describe a case of a 62-year-old man admitted to the emergency department with rhabdomyolysis from severe ...

Lipid Profile in Primary Aldosteronism: Cross‐Sectional and Post‐Treatment Analyses
ABSTRACT The relationship between primary aldosteronism (PA) and lipid metabolism remains controversial, with inconsistent findings reported in the literature. This study aimed to clarify PA's impact on the lipid profile using both a cross‐sectional comparison with essential hypertension (EH) controls and a longitudinal within‐patient pre‐post ...

Primary aldosteronism is caused by autonomous production of aldosterone by the adrenal cortex (due to hyperplasia, adenoma, or carcinoma). It is the cause of most common secondary form of arterial hypertension. The most common causes (90%) of primary aldosteronism are aldosterone producing adenomas and bilateral adrenal hyperplasia.

Primary hyperaldosteronism: challenges in subtype classification
Background Primary hyperaldosteronism (PA) is a serious and potentially debilitating disease. Detailed guidelines have been written to guide endocrinologists in establishing the diagnosis of PA as well as in subtype classification of PA. The objective of

ABSTRACT Objective Subtyping of primary aldosteronism usually requires adrenal vein sampling (AVS). Interpretation can be compromised by apparent bilateral aldosterone suppression (ABAS), which we hypothesised reflects an artefact of the Liaison immunoassay of aldosterone.

Summary Chronic stress, characterized by increased long‐term exposure to the glucocorticoid hormone cortisol, is increasingly linked to obesity development. Still, various knowledge gaps persist, including on underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. The aim of the current review is to provide the latest insights on the connection between stress and ...
