Solving the Fixed Charge Transportation Problem by New Heuristic Approach [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Optimization in Industrial Engineering, 2019
The fixed charge transportation problem (FCTP) is a deployment of the classical transportation problem in which a fixed cost is incurred, independent of the amount transported, along with a variable cost that is proportional to the amount shipped.

Greedy Maximal Scheduling in Wireless Networks

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we consider greedy scheduling algorithms in wireless networks, i.e., the schedules are computed by adding links greedily based on some priority vector.

Heuristic Optimization of Rough-Mill Yield With Production Priorities [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering for Industry, 1991
Efficient lumber utilization at the saw has become a key issue in the woodworking industry. This is because of shrinking supply and increasing raw materials prices. In this paper, formulation of the cross-cut first method of cutting defects out of lumber as a one-dimensional stock cutting problem is discussed.

A novel heuristic for handover priority in mobile heterogeneous networks based on a multimodule Takagi–Sugeno–Kang fuzzy system

open access: yesETRI Journal, 2022
H2RDC (heuristic handover based on RCC-DTSK-C), a heuristic algorithm based on a highly interpretable deep Takagi–Sugeno–Kang fuzzy classifier, is proposed for suppressing the mobile heterogeneous networks problem of frequent handover and handover ping ...

How to study cognitive decision algorithms: The case of the priority heuristic

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2010
Although the priority heuristic (PH) is conceived as a cognitive-process model, some of its critical process assumptions remain to be tested. The PH makes very strong ordinal and quantitative assumptions about the strictly sequential, non-compensatory ...

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.
