Association of Probiotic Clostridium butyricum Therapy with Survival and Response to Immune Checkpoint Blockade in Patients with Lung Cancer

open access: yesCancer immunology research, 2020
The gut microbiome associates with the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade (ICB). The probiotic Clostridium butyricum MIYAIRI 588 strain improves the efficacy of ICB in lung cancer patients.

Maternal Preconception Antibiotic Exposure Disrupts Microbial Succession: A Transgenerational Risk for Offspring Gut Mucosal Immaturity and Colitis Susceptibility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that maternal antibiotic exposure prior to conception disrupts intergenerational gut microbial succession. By enhancing maternal‐offspring microbial transmission, altering microbial developmental trajectories and increasing selective pressures during community assembly, these disturbances lead to persistent gut mucosal immaturity and

Frequency of CYP2B6 Alleles in Major Iranian Ethnicities, Affecting Response to Efavirenz

open access: yesGenetics Research, 2022
Introduction. Efavirenz is an antihuman immunodeficiency virus (HIV) drug metabolized by cytochrome P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) enzyme. Cytochrome P450 2B6 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CYP2B6 gene. Polymorphisms of this gene play a crucial role in

Galacto-oligosaccharides formation during manufacture of different varieties of yogurt. Stability through storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) have interest in the food industry due to their recognized functional properties. In this work, we studied the effect of a commercial β-galactosidase enzyme from Kluyveromyces lactis (YNL-2, GODO) and Lactobacillus ...

Gemella morbillorum Promotes Colorectal Carcinogenesis: LPBDCP‐Mediated Invasion Activates Ras Signaling and Destabilizes p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

Effect of probiotic inocula on the population density of lactic acid bacteria and enteric pathogens in the intestine of weaning piglets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Because antibiotic resistance occurs in bacteria at an alarming rate, significant research has been focused on finding alternative treatments which do not involve the use of antibiotics.

Neuroactive probiotics

open access: yesBioEssays, 2011
Microbial biofilms constitute a major reason for infections to occur and persist at various sites in the human body, especially in association with medical devices. The organisms invariably form these biofilms on surfaces which have host proteins and other substances coating them.
