Gut Microbiota and Obesity: A Role for Probiotics
Nowadays, obesity is one of the most prevalent human health problems. Research from the last 30 years has clarified the role of the imbalance between energy intake and expenditure, unhealthy lifestyle, and genetic variability in the development of ...

Gut microbiome-related effects of berberine and probiotics on type 2 diabetes (the PREMOTE study)
Human gut microbiome is a promising target for managing type 2 diabetes (T2D). Measures altering gut microbiota like oral intake of probiotics or berberine (BBR), a bacteriostatic agent, merit metabolic homoeostasis.

A healthcare toilet system is introduced to passively measure defecation behavior. Real‐time data on stool dropping duration, thickness, and a newly defined “eu‐tenesmus” interval show correlations with stool form and gender differences. Results from 45 defecation events reveal a promising method for comprehensive defecation analysis.

Feasibility of Oral Prenatal Probiotics against Maternal Group B \u3cem\u3eStreptococcus\u3c/em\u3e Vaginal and Rectal Colonization [PDF]
Objective To examine the effect of an oral prenatal probiotic on group B Streptococcus (GBS) colonization and to demonstrate the feasibility of a larger randomized controlled trial. Design This pilot study was an open‐label, two‐group quasi‐experiment.

Adhesion mechanisms mediated by probiotics and prebiotics and their potential impact on human health
Adhesion ability to the host is a classical selection criterion for potential probiotic bacteria that could result in a transient colonisation that would help to promote immunomodulatory effects, as well as stimulate gut barrier and metabolic functions ...

This study deciphers maternal‐driven microbial transmission in pigs using a deep learning model (maternal–offspring microbial transmission model), identifying Christensenellaceae R‐7 group as a key transmitted taxon. Filtered galacto‐oligosaccharides‐targeted Christensenellaceae R‐7 group alters offspring microbial functions via maternal ...

Allergy is caused by an immune reaction that is out of all proportion to the antigenic stimuli. Classical allergy is a type I hypersensitivity reaction mediated by the interaction of mast cells (and eosinophils) coated with allergen-specific IgE and a cross-linking allergen.

Akkermansia depletion correlates with acute pancreatitis (AP) severity. A. muciniphila and its protein Amuc_1409 mitigate pancreatic/systemic inflammation by expanding Tregs and IL‐10. Mechanistically, Amuc_1409 binds Ube2k, inhibiting Foxp3 ubiquitination to stabilize Treg differentiation and IL‐10 production, countering SAP‐induced SIRS/CARS ...
