Process modeling for simulation

open access: yesComputers in Industry, 2006
This paper discusses shortfalls in relation to the requirements gathering phases of simulation. While many developments have taken place around supporting the model coding task of simulation, there are few tools available to assist in the requirements gathering phase.

Computer Simulation Study of the Levy Flight Process

open access: yes, 2010
Random walk simulation of the Levy flight shows a linear relation between the mean square displacement and time. We have analyzed different aspects of this linearity.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Effects of Land Use Conversion from Upland Field to Paddy Field on Soil Temperature Dynamics and Heat Transfer Processes

open access: yesLand
Investigating soil temperature and the heat transfer process is essential for understanding water–heat changes and energy balance in farmland. The conversion from upland fields (UFs) to paddy fields (PFs) alters the land cover, irrigation regimes, and ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Combining Multitemporal Sentinel-2A Spectral Imaging and Random Forest to Improve the Accuracy of Soil Organic Matter Estimates in the Plough Layer for Cultivated Land

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
Soil organic matter (SOM) is vital for assessing the quality of arable land. A fast and reliable estimation of SOM is important to predict the soil carbon stock in cropland.

Data-Driven Process Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Synonyms-Definition Data-driven process simulation is a technique which constructs a computer model that imitates the internal details of a business process and extensively uses real-life data-recorded by information systems supporting the actual process-to do so.

Towards a process simulation tool for the laseer assisted tape placement process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A combined optical and thermal model for the laser assisted tape placement process is presented. The optical model adopts a ray tracing procedure, based on the Fresnel equations, to predict the incident heat flux on the tape and substrate near the nip ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Simulation of surface processes [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2011
Computer simulations of surface processes can reveal unexpected insight regarding atomic-scale structure and transitions. Here, the strengths and weaknesses of some commonly used approaches are reviewed as well as promising avenues for improvements. The electronic degrees of freedom are usually described by gradient-dependent functionals within Kohn ...
