Hyperprolinemia Type IA

open access: yesJournal of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Screening, 2017
Objective: Hyperprolinemia type I (HPI) is a rare and inherited autosomal recessive disorder caused by proline oxidase deficiency. Hyperprolinemia type 1 is biochemically defined as high plasma proline levels without urinary Δ-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate ...

Oxidized low-density lipoproteins upregulate proline oxidase to initiate ROS-dependent autophagy [PDF]

open access: yesCarcinogenesis, 2009
Epidemiological studies showed that high levels of oxidized low-density lipoproteins (oxLDLs) are associated with increased cancer risk. We examined the direct effect of physiologic concentrations oxLDL on cancer cells. OxLDLs were cytotoxic and activate both apoptosis and autophagy.

Evaluating Foliar Application of Calcium Nitrate, Calcium Chloride and Boric Acid on Physiological Disorders of ‘Kaleh - Ghoochi’ Pistachio [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nuts, 2019
Pistachio suffers from some physiological disorders such as fruit abscission, endocarp lesion, blankness, non-split, early-split and deformed nuts. In this experiment, the effects of calcium nitrate (2 gr/lit), calcium chloride (2 gr/lit), boric acid ...

Hydrogen Sulfide Treatment Alleviates Chilling Injury in Cucumber Fruit by Regulating Antioxidant Capacity, Energy Metabolism and Proline Metabolism

open access: yesFoods, 2022
Although low-temperature storage could maintain the quality of fruits and vegetables, it may also result in chilling injury (CI) in cold-sensitive produce, such as cucumbers.

Functional studies on oligotropha carboxidovorans molybdenum–copper CO dehydrogenase produced in escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Mo/Cu-dependent CO dehydrogenase (CODH) from Oligotropha carboxidovorans is an enzyme that is able to catalyze both the oxidation of CO to CO2 and the oxidation of H2 to protons and electrons. Despite the close to atomic resolution structure (1.1 Å),

Atomically precise metal cluster enzymes for pathological tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of atomically precise metal cluster enzymes (MCEs) for pathological tissue regeneration. Atomically precise MCEs can modulate biological processes, such as attenuation of inflammatory responses, eradication of bacterial pathogens, regulation of angiogenesis, and promotion of cell development.

Sustained AMPK Activation and Proline Metabolism Play Critical Roles in the Survival of Matrix-Deprived Transformed Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Attachment to the matrix is critical for the survival of adherent cells, whereas detachment triggers death by apoptosis. Therefore, solid tumors must acquire the ability to survive the stress of matrix-detachment to transit through circulation and seed ...

Characterization of TrxC, an Atypical Thioredoxin Exclusively Present in Cyanobacteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Cyanobacteria form a diverse group of oxygenic photosynthetic prokaryotes considered to be the antecessor of plant chloroplast. They contain four different thioredoxins isoforms, three of them corresponding to m, x and y type present in plant chloroplast,

Dietary and biomarker‐guided strategies as supportive measures in the fragile X syndrome

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Abstract The fragile X syndrome (FXS) is an inherited neurodevelopmental disorder that primarily affects males, often resulting in an IQ below 55, while about two‐thirds of females also experience intellectual disability. Physical features may include an elongated face, prominent ears, finger joint laxity, and enlarged testes in males.
