Objectives:To present a rare case of propofol-induced hepatitis. Materials and methods: A 59-year old man was referred to our department because of suspicion of toxic hepatitis after propofol anaesthesia for endoscopic colonoscopy. Results: The patient had jaundice, increased transaminases demonstrating liver necrosis, and liver stiffness of 18 kPa ...

Enhancing the Reliability of Cartilage Repair Evaluation: A Simplified Volume‐Based Approach
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to explore methods for enhancing the reliability of arthroscopic cartilage repair evaluation. We compared a new volume‐based scoring technique that assessed the extent of high‐quality cartilage repair tissue in four quadrants of the repair tissue with the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) score.

Abstract Objectives There is a concern that decreasing soybean oil (SO) content in intravenous lipid emulsions (ILEs) may increase the risk for essential fatty acid deficiency (EFAD). This study evaluates the risk of EFAD in pediatric patients who were expected to require parenteral nutrition for at least 7 days with an 80% olive oil/20% SO ILE (OO/SO ...

In fact, we have used propofol for procedural sedation and as an induction agent for intubation since 1995. Among our emergency physicians it has become the agent of choice (in combination with appropriate analgesia), particularly for orthopedic procedures. Although we have not been tracking its use, we are unaware of any adverse outcomes.

ABSTRACT Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers secondary damage, including pain‐induced hypertension, inflammation, and hemorrhage, impairing recovery. This study evaluated the efficacy of general anesthesia with preemptive propofol administration in mitigating secondary damage in SCI rats. SCI was induced in rats using a contusion model.

Performing Drug‐Induced Sleep Endoscopy in the Endoscopy Suite (ES) increases efficiency and reduces costs compared to the outpatient surgery center (SC) while maintaining safety for patients with CPAP‐intolerant Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Total facility time was reduced by 48 min and costs were 39.35% lower in the ES group, with all comparisons showing ...

ABSTRACT In the 1980s, researchers discovered the remarkable ability of electrospray plumes to effectively ionize gas‐phase molecules via secondary ionization. Around 20 years later—coinciding with the ambient mass spectrometry revolution—secondary electrospray ionization (SESI) and extractive electrospray ionization (EESI) coupled to mass spectrometry

Function of the Normal Neuromuscular Junction in Young Children
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims The repetitive nerve stimulation (RNS) test is fundamental to test the functional integrity of the neuromuscular junction. RNS data are scarce for newborns and young children, limiting early diagnostic efforts to identify children with neuromuscular diseases. Here, we performed RNS in young children.
