Prostaglandin Endoperoxide H Synthases [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
The cyclooxygenase (COX) activity of prostaglandin endoperoxide H synthases (PGHSs) converts arachidonic acid and O2 to prostaglandin G2 (PGG2). PGHS peroxidase (POX) activity reduces PGG2 to PGH2.

Prostaglandin pathways in equine myometrium regulations: endometrosis progression [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionProstaglandins (PG) are important regulators of the myometrial contractility in mammals. Endometrosis, a condition characterized by morphological changes in the equine endometrium, also affects endometrial secretory function.

Prostaglandin Endoperoxide H Synthases (Cyclooxygenases)-1 and −2* [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1996
Prostaglandin endoperoxide H synthases (PGHSs) catalyze the conversion of arachidonic acid and O2 to PGH2, the committed step in prostanoid biosynthesis (Fig. 1) (1).

Prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase contains an EGF‐like domain [PDF]

open access: bronzeFEBS Letters, 1989
Prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase was subjected to the computer‐assisted homology search in the protein primary structure database, in order to investigate the regulation mechanism of the expression of prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase. As a result of that, it turned out that prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase shares sequence homology with ...

Different Catalytically Competent Arrangements of Arachidonic Acid within the Cyclooxygenase Active Site of Prostaglandin Endoperoxide H Synthase-1 Lead to the Formation of Different Oxygenated Products [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2000
Arachidonic acid is converted to prostaglandin G2 (PGG2) by the cyclooxygenase activities of prostaglandin endoperoxide H synthases (PGHSs) 1 and 2. The initial, rate-limiting step is abstraction of the 13-proS hydrogen from arachidonate which, for PGG2 ...

Histidine 386 and Its Role in Cyclooxygenase and Peroxidase Catalysis by Prostaglandin-endoperoxide H Synthases [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2003
Prostaglandin-endoperoxide H synthases (PGHSs) have a cyclooxygenase that forms prostaglandin (PG) G2 from arachidonic acid (AA) plus oxygen and a peroxidase that reduces the PGG2 to PGH2. The peroxidase activates the cyclooxygenase.

Prostaglandin Endoperoxide H Synthase-1 [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2001
Prostaglandin endoperoxide H synthases (PGHSs) catalyze the committed step in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxane, the conversion of arachidonic acid, two molecules of O2, and two electrons to prostaglandin endoperoxide H2 (PGH2 ...

Unraveling the Mechanism of Xiaochaihu Granules in Alleviating Yeast-Induced Fever Based on Network Analysis and Experimental Validation [PDF]

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Xiaochaihu granules (XCHG) are extensively used to treat fever. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. This study aimed to explore the potential of XCHG in mitigating yeast-induced fever and the underlying metabolic pathways.

Hepatic Stellate Cells Promote Hepatocyte Engraftment in Rat Liver After Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase Inhibition [PDF]

open access: bronzeGastroenterology, 2009
BACKGROUND & AIMS Hepatic inflammation occurs immediately after cells are transplanted to the liver, but the mechanisms that underlie this process are not fully defined.

The orientation of prostaglandin endoperoxide synthases-1 and -2 in the endoplasmic reticulum.

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1994
Prostaglandin endoperoxide H synthases (PGHS)-1 and -2 are integral membrane proteins of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The luminal versus cytoplasmic orientations of several epitopes of PGHS-1 and PGHS-2 were determined by immunocytofluorescent staining of cells following treatment with membrane-selective permeants.
