Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Quantitative analysis of RNA-protein interactions on a massively parallel array for mapping biophysical and evolutionary landscapes

open access: yesNature Biotechnology, 2014
RNA-protein interactions drive fundamental biological processes and are targets for molecular engineering, yet quantitative and comprehensive understanding of the sequence determinants of affinity remains limited.

Adenosine A3 receptor antagonists as anti‐tumor treatment in human prostate cancer: an in vitro study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The A3 adenosine receptors (A3ARs) are overexpressed in prostate cancer. AR 292 and AR 357, as A3AR antagonists, are capable of blocking proliferation, modulating the expression of drug transporter genes involved in chemoresistance, ferroptosis, and the hypoxia response, and inducing cell death.

NIR Calibrations for Soybean Seeds and Soy Food Composition Analysis: Total Carbohydrates, Oil, Proteins and Water Contents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Conventional chemical analysis techniques are expensive, time consuming, and often destructive. The non-invasive Near Infrared (NIR) technology was introduced over the last decades for wide-scale, inexpensive chemical analysis of food and crop seed ...

Synthetic dosage lethal (SDL) interaction data of Hmt1 arginine methyltransferase

open access: yesData in Brief, 2020
The introduction of methyl groups on arginine residues is catalysed by Protein Arginine Methyltransferases (PRMTs). However, the regulatory mechanisms that dictate the levels of protein arginine methylation within cells are still not completely ...

Chemical-genetic profile analysis in yeast suggests that a previously uncharacterized open reading frame, YBR261C, affects protein synthesis

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2008
Background Functional genomics has received considerable attention in the post-genomic era, as it aims to identify function(s) for different genes. One way to study gene function is to investigate the alterations in the responses of deletion mutants to ...

Advanced glycation end products promote the release of endothelial cell‐derived mitocytosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under diabetic conditions, AGEs induce mitochondrial damage in HUVECs, activating migrasome‐mediated mitocytosis. Migrasomes encapsulate damaged mitochondria and are released into the extracellular space, facilitating intercellular mitochondrial transfer.
