Implementing BMP‐7 Chemically Modified RNA for Bone Regeneration with 3D Printable Hyaluronic Acid‐Collagen Granular Gels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed 3D‐printable THA‐Col microgels for delivering BMP‐7 cmRNA. The key result is that hMSCs transfected on the biomaterials showed BMP‐7 secretion levels comparable to pre‐transfected hMSCs, therefore introducing a cmRNA‐activated matrix to promote bone healing.

Stabilisation of Na,K-ATPase structure by the cardiotonic steroid ouabain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cardiotonic steroids such as ouabain bind with high affinity to the membrane-bound cation-transporting P-type Na,K-ATPase, leading to complete inhibition of the enzyme.

Rapid Deep Vat Printing Using Photoclickable Collagen‐Based Bioresins

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen‐based resin formulations based on thiol‐ene photoclick chemistry are demonstrated. These resins enable easy handleability under neutral conditions and further allow facile fabrication of multicellular tissue constructs via tomographic or FLight printing.

Effects of moderate electric fields (MEF) on denaturation of whey proteins solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Electric fields application during thermal processing are now receiving increased attention due to uniform heating of liquids and extremely rapid heating rates, which presumably enables higher temperatures to be applied without inducing excessive ...

Effect of isolation conditions on structural properties and surface behavior of soy-whey proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, the impact of isolation conditions on structural and surface properties at the air/water interface of soy-whey proteins (SWP) was assessed. SWP were obtained by precipitation of soy-whey (at pH 4.5 or 8.0) with acetone or ammonium sulfate.

Multifunctional Biomedical Devices with Closed‐Loop Systems for Precision Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores two major types of closed‐loop therapeutic systems: self‐sustained and externally triggered. It highlights recent advances in stimuli‐responsive materials, integrated bioelectronics, and data‐driven control strategies, offering insight into emerging strategies for personalized, responsive drug delivery.

Comparative study of two types of pre-extraction treatment (drying or non-drying) on physicochemical, structural and functional properties of extracted insect proteins from Tenebrio molitor larvae

open access: yesCurrent Research in Food Science, 2022
Microwave drying (MD) or freeze drying (FD) was commonly used as a drying treatment prior to the extraction of edible insect proteins. However, some quality defects (e.g., lipid oxidation or protein denaturation) were probably occurred via the drying ...

Investigation on the Influence of Protein Corona and Platelet Adhesion on Storage Bag Surface on the Platelet Storage Lesion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Platelet quality deteriorates during storage due to protein and platelet adhesion to current bag materials. Here, polymer coatings are identified that reduce adhesion and translated them to mini‐storage bags. Platelet quality are not impacted, despite significantly reducing adhesion.

PLUS: Primary Layer for Universal Sensing Enabling Improved Immunocapture of Biomarkers in Clinical Scenarios

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Primary Layer for Universal Sensing (PLUS), a universal coating for bioprobe immobilization across diverse substrates, is introduced. Unlike conventional methods, PLUS is directly grown from dopamine and avidin, creating a roughened surface with abundant biotin‐binding sites.
