Backbone Importance for Protein−Protein Binding
Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation, 2007Although a number of studies have focused on the physical and chemical properties of protein-protein interfaces of complexes to determine their unique features, the importance of the backbone hydrogen bonds to protein-protein binding has been neglected due to the difficulty of quantitatively measuring their contribution to the free binding energy.

The protein import receptor of mitochondria
Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 1995Protein import into the mitochondria of Saccharomyces cerevisiae depends on two receptor subcomplexes composed of integral outer-membrane proteins. One subcomplex is the MAS37-MAS70 heterodimer, which preferentially recognizes the mature regions of precursor proteins associated with ATP-dependent cytosolic chaperones.

Protein Import Into Isolated Mitochondria
2007Import of proteins into mitochondria is a pivotal process in the biogenesis of mitochondria. Only about 1% of the 1000-2000 different proteins constituting the mitochondrion are encoded in the mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). All others are specified by nuclear genes. They are translated in the cytosol and released from ribosomes as precursor

When is Protein Binding Important?*
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2013The present paper is an ode to a classic citation by Benet and Hoener (2002. Clin Pharm Ther 71(3):115-121). The now classic paper had a huge impact on drug development and the way the issue of protein binding is perceived and interpreted. Although the authors very clearly pointed out the limitations and underlying assumptions for their delineations ...
