Characterization of a unique motif in LIM mineralization protein-1 that interacts with jun activation-domain-binding protein 1 [PDF]
Development and repair of the skeletal system and other organs are highly dependent on precise regulation of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) pathway. The use of BMPs clinically to induce bone formation has been limited in part by the requirement of much higher doses of recombinant proteins in primates than were needed in cell culture or rodents ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Dissecting interactions within focal adhesions: studies on vinculin [PDF]
Vinculin and paxillin are proteins that localise to focal adhesions. Focal adhesions arespecialised sites of cell attachment between the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane andthe extracellular matrix.

The B-box (BBX) family of proteins consists of zinc-finger transcription factors with one or two highly conserved B-box motifs at their N-termini. BBX proteins play crucial roles in various aspects of plant growth and development, including seedling ...

During biosynthesis on modular polyketide synthases (PKSs), chain extension intermediates are tethered to acyl carrier protein (ACP) domains through phosphopantetheinyl prosthetic groups. Each ACP must therefore interact with every other domain within the module, and also with a downstream acceptor domain. The nature of these interactions is key to our

Molecular characterization of the B‐box protein–protein interaction motif of the ETS‐domain transcription factor Elk‐1 [PDF]
The ternary complex factor (TCF) subfamily of ETS-domain transcription factors form ternary complexes with the serum response factor (SRF) and the c-fos SRE. Extracellular signals are relayed via MAP kinase signal transduction pathways through the TCF component of the ternary complex.

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Structure and interactions of the STAS domains and of the Myb/SANT domains by means of NMR techniques [PDF]
The present work is divided in two parts: the first one concerns the STAS domains, while the second one the Myb/SANT domains. The guiding thread linking the two parts is constituted by the method and the aims: these are the study of the structure and of ...

The interaction between the purine motif triplex and the triplex DNA-binding domain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Stm1 protein [PDF]
Saccharomyces cerevisiae Stm1 protein (273 amino acids) is a purine motif triplex DNA-binding protein. We have previously found that Stm(1-113) (amino acids 1-113) is the minimal domain to specifically bind with the purine motif triplex. Here, to reveal the triplex recognition mechanism of Stm(1-113), we have examined the interaction between Stm(1-113)

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
