Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Determination of proteolytic enzyme activity during malting

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2018
Proteolytic enzymes (proteases) are widely represented in living organisms where they catalyze the hydrolysis of peptide bonds in proteins and peptides.

The effect of melanin on the proteolytic potential of blood under alkali esophageal burn

open access: yesJournal of Biological Research, 2020
Caustic esophageal burns are among serious medical problems of global significance. Due to a key role in biological processes proteolytic enzymes actively involved in the pathological mechanisms underpinning the development and progression of burn ...

The proteolytic activity of Listeria monocytogenes HtrA

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2019
Background High temperature requirement A (HtrA) is a widely expressed chaperone and serine protease in bacteria. HtrA proteases assemble and hydrolyze misfolded proteins to enhance bacterial survival under stress conditions.

Spatiotemporal Drug Delivery via a Neonatal Spinal Cord ECM Hydrogel for Biomimetic Microenvironment Remodeling After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A biomimetic hydrogel derived from neonatal spinal cord ECM (DNSCM) delivers LAMB2 protein and ISP peptide to remodel the inhibitory injury microenvironment. The system sustains drug release, upregulates pro‐regenerative LAMB2, downregulates inhibitory CSPG, and promotes axonal regeneration.

Investigation into the proteolytic activity in chronic wound fluid and development of a remediation strategy

open access: yes, 2007
Chronic ulcers are an important and costly medical issue, causing their sufferers a large amount of pain, immobility and decreased quality of life. The common pathology in these chronic wounds is often characterised by excessive proteolytic activity ...

Interferon y Stimulation Modulates the Proteolytic Activity and Cleavage Site Preference of 20S Mouse Proteasomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The proteasome is a 700-kD multisubunit enzyme complex with several proteolytically active sites. The enzyme complex is involved in both ubiquitin-dependent and -independent protein degradation and may contribute to the processing of antigens presented ...

Microfabricated Anisotropic Myobundles for the Scalable Production of Cardiac Tissue Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the anisotropy of cardiac tissue remains an outstanding challenge in the field of cardiac tissue engineering. Here, we introduce an approach to generate anisotropic cardiac myobundles using cell‐adhesive, synthetic, electrospun fibers and stem cell‐derived cardiac fibroblasts.

Proteolytic Activity of Hemophilic Plasma.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1949
Summary1. A method is described by which the proteolytic activity of human normal and hemophilic plasmas may be compared.2. The proteolytic activity of 3 hemophilic plasmas was found to be comparable to that of normal plasmas.
