Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Extensive quantitative remodeling of the proteome between normal colon tissue and adenocarcinoma
We report a proteomic analysis of microdissected material from formalin‐fixed and paraffin‐embedded colorectal cancer, quantifying >7500 proteins between patient matched normal mucosa, primary carcinoma, and nodal metastases.

DART-ID increases single-cell proteome coverage. [PDF]
Analysis by liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) can identify and quantify thousands of proteins in microgram-level samples, such as those comprised of thousands of cells.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Tumor-associated macrophages remodeling EMT and predicting survival in colorectal carcinoma
The immune contexture, a composition of the tumor microenvironment, plays multiple important roles in cancer stem cell (CSC) and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), and hence critically influences tumor initiation, progression and patient outcome ...

Intricacies in arrangement of SNP haplotypes suggest “Great Admixture” that created modern humans
Background Inferring history from genomic sequences is challenging and problematic because chromosomes are mosaics of thousands of small Identicalby-descent (IBD) fragments, each of them having their own unique story.
