Abstract Purpose The detection of hyperpolarized carbon‐13 (HP 13C)‐fumarate conversion to 13C‐malate using 13C‐MRSI is a biomarker for early detection of cellular necrosis. Here, we describe the translation of HP 13C‐fumarate as a novel human imaging agent, including the evaluation of biocompatibility and scaling up of the hyperpolarization methods ...

We enrolled 50 ablation sites (12, 10, 8.5, and 5.5 W) in 11 patients where the esophageal temperature reached 39°C within 5 s after ablation. Although ablation duration was correlated with power settings, total energy and maximal esophageal temperature did not differ significantly among the 4 groups.

Reference ranges are derived from healthy volunteers but may not be interchangeable with those from patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Furthermore, sex and age seem to influence rotational thromboelastometry profiles.
