The effect of oxidation on the stability of G-quadruplex DNA : implications for oncogene expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
G-quadruplexes (G4-DNA) are a class of secondary structures formed from Guanine rich sequences. In recent years these structures have been implicated in both telomere maintenance and oncogene expression, and have been shown to be abundant in upstream ...

Risk factors analysis for BRAF gene V600E mutation in patients with infiltrative follicular papillary thyroid carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes精准医学杂志
Objective To investigate the risk factors for BRAF gene V600E mutation in patients with infiltrative follicular papillary thyroid carcinoma (IF-PTC). Methods A total of 134 patients with IF-PTC who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital from August

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

A yeast gene encoding a protein homologous to the human c-has/bas proto-oncogene product

open access: yes, 1983
Organisms amenable to easy genetic analysis should prove helpful in assessing the function of at least those proto-oncogene products which are highly conserved in different eukaryotic cells.

The Effects of a Submaximal Endurance Swimming Training Period and Cadmium Poisoning during Pregnancy on the Hepatocyte Growth Factor Response in Neonatal Rats

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Qum, 2015
Background and Objectives: Exposure to cadmium in early pregnancy has long-term effects on the growth and function of the liver. One of the pathways that controls proliferation of the fetal liver involves hepatocyte growth factor (HGF).

Structure of the protein encoded by the chicken proto-oncogene c-myb. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 1986
The retroviral oncogene v-myb arose by transduction of the chicken proto-oncogene c-myb. We isolated and sequenced cDNA that represents the entire coding domain of chicken c-myb. By transcribing the cDNA into mRNA in vitro and then translating the RNA, we were able to document the integrity of the cDNA and to identify the codon responsible for ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

The neural ELAVL protein HuB enhances endogenous proto-oncogene activation [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2019
The cytoplasmic distribution of the HuR/ELAVL1 (embryonic lethal abnormal vision 1) protein is recognized as an important prognostic factor of malignant tumors. However, the previous study suggests that exogenous over-expression of HuR is not sufficient for nuclear export.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
