Biophysical Journal, 1983 The short-circuit photoresponse of a bacteriorhodopsin-based photoactive membrane is studied. The membrane is formed by first coating a Teflon membrane with lipid and then fusing bacteriorhodopsin vesicles to it. An incandescent light source was used to obtain the rise time of the photocurrent in response to a step-function illumination.
