Evaluation of Preemergence Herbicide Programs for Control of Protoporphyrinogen Oxidase-Resistant Amaranthus palmeri in Soybean

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agronomy, 2021
Protoporphyrinogen oxidase- (PPO-) resistant Amaranthus palmeri (S.) Wats. (Palmer amaranth) was confirmed in Arkansas in 2015. Field trials were conducted in Crawfordsville, Gregory, and Marion, Arkansas in 2016, and Crawfordsville and Marion in 2017 ...

Mitochondrial Targeting of Normal and Mutant Protoporphyrinogen Oxidase [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2003
We have investigated the signal sequence for mitochondrial transport of mutants (I12T, 78insC, IVS2-2a-->c, 338G-->C, R152C, 470A-->C, and L401F) and the wild type protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPOX), which is the penultimate enzyme in the heme biosynthesis.

Characteristics of purified protoporphyrinogen oxidase from barley

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1989
The membrane bound enzyme oxidizing protoporphyrinogen to protoporphyrin, a step in heme and chlorophyll synthesis, was purified to a single prominent polypeptide band on SDS/PAGE from barley mitochondrial fractions. It contained a variety of lipids including 0.66 mg of phosphatidyl ethanolamine and 0.46 mg of free fatty acid per mg of protein.

Thirty years of glyphosate‐resistant crops and weeds: Current situation and future prospects

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Since 1996, when the first glyphosate‐resistant crop was commercialized and the first resistant weed was reported, resistance has expanded globally. This review analyzes emergence patterns across weed species, crops, regions, resistance mechanisms, and herbicides.
