The endoplasmic reticulum in plant immunity and cell death [PDF]
The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a highly dynamic organelle in eukaryotic cells and a major production site of proteins destined for vacuoles, the plasma membrane, or apoplast in plants.

Precision Editing of NLRS Improves Effector Recognition for Enhanced Disease Resistance
Precision engineering of plant NLR immune receptors enables rational design of enhanced pathogen resistance through mismatched pairing, domain swapping, and targeted mutagenesis. These approaches achieve multi‐fold expansion in recognition breadth while minimizing autoimmunity risks and fitness penalties.

Coxiella burnetii Blocks Intracellular Interleukin-17 Signaling in Macrophages [PDF]
Coxiella burnetii is an obligate intracellular bacterium and the etiological agent of Q fever. Successful host cell infection requires the Coxiella type IVB secretion system (T4BSS), which translocates bacterial effector proteins across the vacuole ...

This study introduces MnSTF, a soft‐drug‐inspired nanoadjuvant that overcomes the systemic toxicity of STING agonists. Through Mn2+ coordination with an ENPP1 inhibitor, it enables safe cGAS‐STING activation, remodels the tumor immune microenvironment, and synergizes with radiotherapy or vaccines to elicit robust antitumor immunity.

Intimate Association of PRR- and NLR-Mediated Signaling in Plant Immunity
Plants recognize the presence or invasion of microbes through cell surface-localized pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) and intracellular nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat receptors (NLRs).

GbWAKL20 Phosphorylates GbNFYB8 to Modulate Verticillium Wilt Resistance in Cotton
Wall‐associated receptor‐like kinases (WAKLs) play pivotal roles in extracellular–intracellular signal transduction. Upon sensing Verticillium dahliae infestation at the plasma membrane, GbWAKL20 accumulates and transmits signals to the nucleus via endoplasmic reticulum‐mediated Golgi vesicle transport.

AbstractThe innate immune system provides the first line of host defense against invading microorganisms before the development of adaptive immune responses. Innate immune responses are initiated by germline-encoded pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), which recognize specific structures of microorganisms.
