Diffusion of Carbamazepine in Hydrophobic Zeolites: A Comparative Study Using Classical and Machine‐Learned Potentials

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Can hydrophobic, shape‐selective zeolites efficiently remove the persistent pharmaceutical CBZ from water? This work moves beyond the static picture of interaction energies by modeling diffusion with umbrella sampling and machine‐learned potentials. Even high intrinsic diffusion barriers can be overcome through exergonic adsorption from water, yielding

The Serotonin 2B (5‐HT2B) Receptor: A Narrative Review of Preclinical and Clinical Evidence on the Safety Considerations and Therapeutic Potential for the Treatment of Depression

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Major depressive disorder (MDD) and treatment‐resistant depression (TRD) remain leading causes of disability, providing the impetus for receptor‐level treatment strategies beyond monoamine reuptake. The serotonin 5‐HT2B receptor (5‐HT2BR) is uniquely positioned at the interface of central‐antidepressant mechanisms and peripheral cardiac risks.

Galactorrhea Due to Psychotropic Drugs

open access: yesPharmacopsychiatry, 2004
Within the drug safety program in psychiatry AMSP ( Arzneimittelsicherheit in der Psychiatrie), severe adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are assessed. Currently 35 psychiatric hospitals and departments are participating in detecting severe ADRs. This paper focuses on prolactin-dependent ADRs such as gynecomastia and galactorrhea due to psychotropic ...

A Novel Workflow for Fast Elucidation of Drug Metabolites for Screening—Combining In Silico Metabolite Prediction With Trapped Ion Mobility QTOF‐MS

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
UHPLC‐timsTOF‐MS with in silico prediction and automated annotation enabled rapid identification of quetiapine metabolites from pHLMs, facilitating their inclusion in targeted LC‐QTOF‐MS urine screening and improving biomarker detection for toxicological applications.

Identification and Characterization of the Designer Opioid N‐Pyrrolidino Fluetonitazene in Nasal Spray

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
N‐Pyrrolidino fluetonitazene, a synthetic opioid, was identified and characterized in a nasal spray using GC‐MS, LC‐QTOF‐MS, NMR and FT‐IR. ABSTRACT Detection of drugs in non‐biological samples serves as a fundamental basis for identifying emerging trends in the field of new psychoactive substances and provides valuable information for optimizing ...

Recreational Drug Use at a Music Festival: A Dual Approach Using Hair Biomarkers Analysis and Participant Self‐Reported Drug Use

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Combined self‐report and hair analysis in festival attendees (n = 249) revealed substantial discrepancies in drug use reporting, particularly for stimulants and dissociatives. This integrated approach enhances detection of poly‐drug use and provides a more reliable basis for monitoring and harm‐reduction strategies.

Segmental Hair Analysis of Diphenhydramine and Cyclizine Following a Single Dose

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
A single oral dose of diphenhydramine and cyclizine can be quantified in human head hair for a minimum of 5 months and, in certain cases, for up to 1 year following intake. Among 12 study participants, the measured concentrations ranged from 0 to 610 pg/mg within 1 year post‐intake.

Divergent input patterns to the central lateral amygdala play a duet in fear memory formation

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Somatostatin (SOM)-expressing neurons in the central lateral amygdala (CeL) are responsible for fear memory learning, but the circuit and molecular mechanisms underlying this biology remain elusive.
