Role of Weak Molecular Interactions in the Mechanism of Action of a Series of Antihelmintics
Different physicochemical properties such as solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions, tautomerism, lipophilicity and solubility in water were determined for a serie of 6,7-diaryl-pteridines in order to relate those properties with their nematocide ...

Soluble Fas ligand and neopterin in patients with systemic and cutaneous discoid lupus erythematosus
Evidence accumulates suggesting that the pathogenesis in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is associated with modulations in the Fas/FasL system. Serum concentrations of soluble Fas ligand (sFasL) were found to be elevated in patients with SLE.

Electrochemical Hydrogenation of N‐Heterocycles and Related Substrates: A Mini‐Review
ABSTRACT Catalytic hydrogenation refers to the (often) metal‐mediated addition of dihydrogen (H2) equivalents to unsaturated compounds to form new element‐hydrogen bonds. This conceptually simple reaction is ubiquitous in the production of a vast number of essential chemicals.

Mutationen im PTS-Gen und mögliche Auswirkungen auf Funktion und Struktur der 6-Pyruvoyl-Tetrahydropterin-Synthase [PDF]
Background: Research on Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) should support patients, caregivers/parents (carers) and clinicians to make important decisions in the consulting room and eventually to improve the lives of patients with JIA.

Abstract Colour signals play pivotal roles in different communication systems, and the evolution of these characters has been associated with behavioural ecology, integumentary production processes and perceptual mechanisms of the species involved. Here, we present the first insight into the molecular and histological basis of skin colour polymorphism ...

A model for the study of ligand binding to the ribosomal RNA helix h44. [PDF]
Oligonucleotide models of ribosomal RNA domains are powerful tools to study the binding and molecular recognition of antibiotics that interfere with bacterial translation.

The increase in urban lands and the vegetation loss implies changes in the colour of the background which in turn could cause changes in the coloration of individuals. We measured changes in body lightness of damselflies through 19 sites in Central Mexico, with a different degree of urbanisation and a different percentage of native vegetation. We found

Synthesis of 6-Hydroxymethylpterin α- and β-D-Glucosides [PDF]
The key precursor, N(2)-(N,N-dimethylaminomethylene)-6-hydroxymethyl-3-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]pterin (11) was efficiently prepared from 2,5,6-triamino-4-hydroxypyrimidine (8) in 5 steps.

ABSTRACT A 10‐month‐old intact male blue Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens) was presented to the Purdue University Small Animal Hospital with multiple bilateral masses on the caudal flank. Comprehensive evaluation using impression cytology, histopathology and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed a tumour composed of a mixed‐cell ...
