Puerarin Accelerates Peripheral Nerve Regeneration

The American Journal of Chinese Medicine, 2011
This study investigates the effect of puerarin (PR) on peripheral nerve regeneration in vitro and in vivo. PR at concentrations of 1, 10, and 100 μM significantly promoted survival and outgrowth of cultured Schwann cells, as compared to the controls treated with culture medium only.

Puerarin injection for unstable angina pectoris

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2006
Puerarin is extracted from the Chinese herb puerariae lobata. Many users of Chinese herbal medicine believe that puerarin has positive effects in the treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD). In recent years puerarin injection has been widely used to treat CHD and angina pectoris. To assess the benefits and harms of puerarin injection for unstable ...

Impact of kudzu and puerarin on sperm function

Reproductive Toxicology, 2015
The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of kudzu (Pueraria mirifica) and the isoflavone puerarin in functional toxicological tests on spermatozoa and to assess the affinity of extracts and pure isoflavones for estrogen receptor (ER)-alpha and -beta (ERα, ERβ) in receptor binding assays.

Puerarin-induced immune hemolytic anemia

International Journal of Hematology, 2013
Drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia (DIIHA) is a relatively uncommon condition characterized by a sudden drop in hemoglobin, putatively following exposure to drugs. Severe forms of hemolysis characterized by rapidly falling hemoglobin levels and hemoglobinuria are extremely rare.

Recent Advances in Methods of Puerarin Biotransformation

Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2016
Puerarin is an isoflavonoid extracted from the roots of Pueraria lobata in the Pueraria thomsonii family. Puerarin displays a broad range of pharmacological activities and has been widely used in clinics. However, puerarin's low solubility and permeability result in poor gastrointestinal absorption and low bioavailability.

Effects of verapamil on the pharmacokinetics of puerarin in rats

Xenobiotica, 2019
The oral bioavailability of puerarin is poor which hindered its clinical performance. This study investigates the effects of verapamil on the pharmacokinetics of puerarin in rats. The pharmacokinetics of orally administered puerarin (50 mg/kg) with or without verapamil pretreatment (10 mg/kg/day for 7 days) were investigated.

Puerarin as an antioxidant fluorescence probe

Chemical Physics Letters, 2008
Abstract Diphenolic isoflavonoid puerarin fluoresces in aqueous solution with maximal intensity at pH 8.5 (Φfl = 0.042, τfl = 1.91 ns). For acidic solutions, weak fluorescence is attributed to fluorescent 7-monophenolate formed via excited-state deprotonation of neutral puerarin.

Activation of Large-Conductance Calcium-Activated Potassium Channels by Puerarin: The Underlying Mechanism of Puerarin-Mediated Vasodilation

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2007
Puerarin is the main isoflavone found in Pueraria lobata (Willd) Ohwi, which has been used in therapy for various cardiovascular diseases. The present study examined the effects of puerarin on the large-conductance voltage- and Ca2+-activated potassium (BK(Ca)) channel and on rat thoracic aortas.

[Isolation and purification of puerarin from puerarin extractive by chelate complex chromatography].

Se pu = Chinese journal of chromatography, 2010
Puerarin, an isoflavone compound, is an important ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine, which has the good medical effects on hypertension and angina. A new type of separation and purification method for isolating puerarin was developed using chelate complex chromatography. The stationary phase was prepared with silica gel containing 7% of Cu(OAc)
