miR-24 is involved in vertebrate LC-PUFA biosynthesis as demonstrated in marine teleost Siganus canaliculatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Recently, microRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as crucial regulators of lipid metabolism. However, the miRNA-mediated regulatory mechanism on long-chain (≥C20) polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) biosynthesis in vertebrates remains largely unknown. Here, we

Identification of miR-145 as a Key Regulator Involved in LC-PUFA Biosynthesis by Targeting hnf4α in the Marine Teleost Siganus canaliculatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Fish, particularly marine species, are considered as the major source of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) in the human diet. The extent to which fish can synthesize LC-PUFA varies with species and is regulated by dietary fatty acids and ...

A Non‐Canonical Core Transcriptional Regulatory Circuit Orchestrates Chromatin Reprogramming to Drive Osimertinib Resistance in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A non‐canonical core transcriptional regulatory circuit, composed of ID3, SMAD3, and NR2F2, drives Osimertinib resistance in non‐small cell lung cancer through super‐enhancer‐mediated activation of EPAS1, which couples neuroendocrine differentiation with ferroptosis evasion.

MiR‐940 Suppresses Ferroptosis by Controlling Expression of Key Regulatory Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A CRISPR‐based screening identified miR‐940 as a critical suppressor of ferroptosis in cancer. By coordinating the downregulation of pro‐ferroptotic genes with the upregulation of GPX4, miR‐940 establishes a regulatory network that protects against ferroptosis and correlates with poor clinical outcomes in distinct cancer entities.

Murine hepatic proteome adaptation to high-fat diets with different contents of saturated fatty acids and linoleic acid : α-linolenic acid polyunsaturated fatty acid ratios

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research
Some health disorders, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, are associated with a poor diet and low quality of the fat in it. The type and duration of the diet have an impact on the liver.

Revisiting the Role of LXRs in PUFA Metabolism and Phospholipid Homeostasis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Liver X receptors (LXRs) play a pivotal role in fatty acid (FA) metabolism. So far, the lipogenic consequences of in vivo LXR activation, as characterized by a major hepatic steatosis, has constituted a limitation to the clinical development of ...

Genome wide identification and functional characterization of two LC-PUFA biosynthesis elongase (elovl8) genes in rabbitfish (Siganus canaliculatus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Elongases of very long-chain fatty acids (Elovls) catalyze the rate-limiting step of the elongation pathway that results in net 2‑carbon elongation of pre-existing fatty acyl chains.
