Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Effects of different potassium-lowering regimens on acute hyperkalemia in hemodialysis patients: a real-world, retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2022
Background Hyperkalemia is a common and potentially life-threatening electrolyte disorder in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of potassium-lowering regimens during treatment of acute ...

On the purification map

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 1973
The investigation of purifications of factor states has been carried on. It is shown, that any factor state θ of aC*-algebra admits at most one purification\(\tilde \omega\), so one can introduce the purification map\(\phi :\phi (\omega ) = \tilde \omega\). It turns out, that the Powers and Stormer inequality is valid in this general situation.

Probabilistic theories with purification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate general probabilistic theories in which every mixed state has a purification, unique up to reversible channels on the purifying system. We show that the purification principle is equivalent to the existence of a reversible realization of ...

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Clinical significance of serum CDC42 in the prediction of uremic vascular calcification incidence and progression

open access: yesLibyan Journal of Medicine, 2023
Vascular calcification (VC) is prevalent in uremia patients, lacking effective molecular biomarkers. This study was conducted to explore the role of serum cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) in the diagnosis of uremic VC incidence and progression. We enrolled

Mechanisms and kinetic assays of aminoacyl‐tRNA synthetases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Accurate protein synthesis is crucial for life. The key players are aminoacyl‐tRNA synthetases (AARSs), which read the genetic code by pairing cognate amino acids and tRNAs. AARSs establish high amino acid selectivity by employing physicochemical limits in molecular recognition.

Cardiac valve calcification and risk of cardiovascular or all-cause mortality in dialysis patients: a meta-analysis

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2018
Background Vascular calcification is a risk factor for the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and mortality in dialysis patients. Nevertheless, the association between cardiac valve calcification (CVC) and the outcome of dialysis is still illusive ...
