Pharmacogenomics in the UK National Health Service: Progress towards implementation
Over the past decade there has been considerable and growing enthusiasm about the promise of using genomics to inform healthcare. In particular, using genetic data to inform prescribing practice has emerged as a compelling policy priority for health systems around the world, not least in the NHS.

Purine and pyrimidine nucleotide metabolism in Mollicutes
Several mollicute genome projects are underway, offering unique opportunities to study genes and metabolic pathways on a genome-wide scale. Here, we have analyzed the conservation and diversity of purine and pyrimidine metabolism in mycoplasmas.

Purine Metabolism in Toxoplasma gondii
We have studied the incorporation and interconversion of purines into nucleotides by freshly isolated Toxoplasma gondii. They did not synthesize nucleotides from formate, glycine, or serine. The purine bases hypoxanthine, xanthine, guanine, and adenine were incorporated at 9.2, 6.2, 5.1, and 4.3 pmol/10(7) cells/h, respectively.

RSEA: A Web Server for Pathway Enrichment Analysis of Metabolic Reaction Sets
Reaction Set Enrichment Analysis (RSEA), a web server tool designed for metabolic pathway enrichment analysis of reaction sets derived from genome‐scale metabolic models was introduced. RSEA converts given reaction lists into standardized identifiers and statistically evaluates their enrichment across metabolic pathways.

The authors present a streamlined cascade reaction for one‐pot N‐C rearrangement of uridine‐5′‐phosphate (UMP) to pseudouridine‐5′‐phosphate (ΨMP; a key mRNA vaccine building block), in two enzymatic steps catalyzed by UMP nucleosidase (EC 3.2.2.10) and ΨMP C‐glycosidase (EC 4.2.1.70).

Metabolomics Based Identification of SIRT5 and Protein Kinase C Epsilon Regulated Pathways in Brain
The role of Sirtuins in brain function is emerging, yet little is known about SIRT5 in this domain. Our previous work demonstrates that protein kinase C epsilon (PKCε)-induced protection from focal ischemia is lost in SIRT5−/− mice.

PCFT‐Independent Cellular Uptake of Cyclic Cell‐Penetrating Peptide‐Conjugated Folic Acid
Cell‐penetrating peptide (CPP)‐conjugated folic acid mediates efficient internalization of folic acid that is independent of the presence of proton‐coupled folate transporter (PCFT) on the intestinal cells. CPP‐conjugated folic acid demonstrates superior cellular uptake at all studied pH and in the presence of PCFT inhibitors and shows enhanced ...

The article evaluates polyoxometalate–ionic liquids (POM–ILs) as biocidal agents against lampenflora in the UNESCO‐listed Pommery Champagne cellar. POM–ILs effectively inhibit microbial colonization over one year with minimal visual impact and outperform the commercial biocide Preventol RI80.
