Purine metabolism in sprint- vs endurance-trained athletes aged 20‒90 years
Purine metabolism is crucial for efficient ATP resynthesis during exercise. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of lifelong exercise training on blood purine metabolites in ageing humans at rest and after exhausting exercise.

LRRC4 suppresses GBM by regulating AP2A1‐containing Golgi‐derived clathrin‐coated vesicles. Low LRRC4 allows cytoplasmic AP2A1 to maintain mitochondrial fission‐fusion, MICOS integrity, and OXPHOS, promoting proliferation and invasion. High LRRC4 redirects AP2A1‐containing Golgi‐derived clathrin‐coated vesicles to mitochondria, disrupts MICOS, enhances

Purine Metabolism in Toxoplasma gondii
We have studied the incorporation and interconversion of purines into nucleotides by freshly isolated Toxoplasma gondii. They did not synthesize nucleotides from formate, glycine, or serine. The purine bases hypoxanthine, xanthine, guanine, and adenine were incorporated at 9.2, 6.2, 5.1, and 4.3 pmol/10(7) cells/h, respectively.

ABSTRACT Bacterial wound infections, particularly those caused by Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are difficult to treat due to biofilm formation, multidrug resistance, and chronic inflammation. Here, we report a multifunctional nanoplatform based on a surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probe that enables simultaneous photodynamic ...

Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome

A member of the gut mycobiota modulates host purine metabolism exacerbating colitis in mice
Saccharomyces cerevisiae induces purine metabolism in mouse intestinal epithelia, resulting in an exacerbation of colitis. Fungi and inflammatory bowel disease Crohn’s disease is associated with an increase in antibodies against the yeast Saccharomyces ...

Overview illustration of dysregulated NFAT activation coordinating upstream signaling, post‐translational regulation and cancer promoting pathways to induce abnormal gene expression that drives tumor development, progression and immune escape. Abstract The Nuclear Factor of Activated T Cells (NFAT) family comprises closely related transcription factors.

Purine metabolism in Echinococcus multilocularis
The activities of the enzymes in Echinococcus multilocularis metacestodes involved in purine salvage were studied by HPLC. As in most parasites, this cestode relies entirely on salvage of preformed bases and nucleosides for its purine requirement. Therefore, these enzymes may be targets for drugs in the chemotherapeutic treatment of diseases caused by ...
