Synthesis of N-7-Substituted Purines from Imidazole Precursors

open access: yesMolecules, 1999
Synthesis of purines and purine mono-1-oxides from the respective 5-substituted 4-nitroimidazole derivatives is described. The commercially available 4-nitroimidazole, in a few simple steps (including Vicarious Nucleophilic Substitution of Hydrogen), was

Relaxing the Hypotheses of Symmetry and Time-Reversibility in Genome Evolutionary Models [PDF]

open access: yesBritish journal of mathematics and computer science. 5(4), 439-455 (2015), 2016
Various genome evolutionary models have been proposed these last decades to predict the evolution of a DNA sequence over time, essentially described using a mutation matrix. By essence, all of these models relate the evolution of DNA sequences to the computation of the successive powers of the mutation matrix.

Lactic acid bacteria isolated from traditional Iranian butter with probiotic and cholesterol‐lowering properties: In vitro and in situ activity

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 350-363, January 2023., 2023
Traditional Iranian butter samples were collected from different parts of Iran and were screened for the presence of Lactic acid bacteria. The selected LAB were identified to species level by biphasic approach. The ability of selected LAB to lower the cholestrol both in vitro and in situ was then determined.

Modification of Purine and Pyrimidine Nucleosides by Direct C-H Bond Activation

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
Transition metal-catalyzed modifications of the activated heterocyclic bases of nucleosides as well as DNA or RNA fragments employing traditional cross-coupling methods have been well-established in nucleic acid chemistry.

Predicting the Evolution of Gene $ura3$ in the Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Since the late `60s, various genome evolutionary models have been proposed to predict the evolution of a DNA sequence as the generations pass. Most of these models are based on nucleotides evolution, so they use a mutation matrix of size 4x4. They encompass for instance the well-known models of Jukes and Cantor, Kimura, and Tamura.

A Transcriptome‐Wide Mendelian Randomization Study in Isolated Human Immune Cells Highlights Risk Genes Involved in Viral Infections and Potential Drug Repurposing Opportunities for Schizophrenia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Schizophrenia is a neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorder characterized by symptoms of psychosis, thought disorder, and flattened affect. Immune mechanisms are associated with schizophrenia, though the precise nature of this relationship (causal, correlated, consequential) and the mechanisms involved are not fully understood.

Proteogenomic characterization of cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Proteogenomic characterization of cholangiocarcinoma with therapeutic strategies Abstract Background and Aims Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly heterogeneous cancer with limited understanding and few effective therapeutic approaches. We aimed at providing a proteogenomic CCA characterization to inform biological processes and treatment ...

Synthesis and fluorescent properties of N(9)-alkylated 2-amino-6-triazolylpurines and 7-deazapurines

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
The synthesis of novel fluorescent N(9)-alkylated 2-amino-6-triazolylpurine and 7-deazapurine derivatives is described. A new C(2)-regioselectivity in the nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions of 9-alkylated-2,6-diazidopurines and 7-deazapurines ...

Possible traces of resonance signaling in the genome [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Although theories regarding the role of sequence-specific DNA resonance in biology have abounded for over 40 years, the published evidence for it is lacking. Here, the authors reasoned that for sustained resonance signaling, the number of oscillating DNA sequences per genome should be exceptionally high and that, therefore, genomic repeats of various ...
