Structural Characterization of Cardiac Free‐Running Purkinje Fibers Using Inhomogeneous Magnetization Transfer (ihMT): A Proof of Concept MRI‐Histology Approach

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
The cardiac Purkinje network is essential for synchronized ventricular activation but remains difficult to visualize with conventional MRI due to limited structural contrast. This study demonstrates that inhomogeneous magnetization transfer imaging provides enhanced contrast that differentiates free‐running Purkinje fibers, Purkinje‐Myocardial Junction,

Combination Versus Monotherapy in Acute Anti‐LGI1 Encephalitis: A Real‐World Dose Optimization Analysis

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
Combined IVIg and 500 mg/day IVMP achieve superior efficacy over monotherapies in anti‐LGI1 encephalitis, with optimal safety. Higher‐dose IVMP (1000 mg) accelerates response but increases adverse events, particularly in diabetic patients. Cognitive deficits persist post‐treatment, necessitating long‐term management.

Transcranial Calcium Macro‐Imaging From the Auditory Cortex of Thy1‐Cre‐Driven GCaMP8 Transgenic Rats

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
We generated Thy1‐Cre–driven GCaMP8 transgenic rats by mating Thy1‐Cre rats with knock‐in rats carrying a floxed GCaMP8‐STOP cassette in the β‐actin locus. Robust neuronal GCaMP8 expression enabled transcranial calcium imaging of the auditory cortex, establishing this model as a powerful tool for minimally invasive cortical macro‐imaging and functional

Dystrophinopathy with a DMD exon 49–50 deletion in a female patient who developed schizophrenia: An autopsy case

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Background Mutations in DMD affect not only muscles but also the brain. Cases of schizophrenia with DMD mutations have been described previously. Although female dystrophinopathy often has a milder phenotype, some affected females also have intellectual disabilities and psychiatric disorders.

Higher sensitivity to ouabain‐induced toxicity in human induced pluripotent stem cell‐derived cardiomyocytes than human adult heart tissue despite similar Na+/K+‐ATPase pump current amplitudes

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 11, Page 3093-3110, June 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Human induced pluripotent stem cell‐derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC‐CM) have gained interest as a pharmacological model but their immaturity leads to uncertainty regarding translation. We studied the key player in maintaining ionic homeostasis, the Na+/K+‐ATPase (NKA), in hiPSC‐CM.
