Effect of mycorrhizal fungi and foliar application of putrescine on some biochemical characteristics and biomass of basil (Ocimum ciliatum L.) in two different harvesting times [PDF]

open access: yesفیزیولوژی محیطی گیاهی, 2019
In order to investigate the effect of mycorrhizal fungi and foliar application of putrescine on some biochemical characteristics, essential oil content, and biomass of basil (Ocimumciliatum L.), a split plot in time experiment with three replications was

Efferocytosis‐Driven Polyamine Metabolism in Macrophages Enhances Cancer Stem Cell Enrichment after Chemotherapy in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy‐induced efferocytosis drives ovarian cancer stem cell enrichment. By engulfing apoptotic cancer cells, macrophages upregulate ODC1 and produce putrescine, which elevates osteopontin (OPN) expression. Secreted OPN then activates the CD44 receptor on cancer cells, promoting stemness and chemoresistance.

Effect of foliar treatment of putrescine on growth and flowering of annual gypsophila (Gypsophila elegance)

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2023
In this research work, we attempted to know the positive response of putrescine on plant growth and flowering of annual flower gypsophila. Putrescine is important because it has been shown that exogenous treatment can enhance the production or ...

Growth regulatory effects of cyclic AMP and polyamine depletion are dissociable in cultured mouse lymphoma cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Treatment of mouse lymphoma S49 cells with D,L-alpha-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO), an inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase, depleted cellular polyamine levels and stopped cell growth. The cells were arrested predominantly in G1.

Novel essential role of ethanol oxidation genes at low temperature revealed by transcriptome analysis in the antarctic bacterium pseudomonas extremaustralis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Temperature is one of the most important factors for bacterial growth and development. Cold environments are widely distributed on earth, and psychrotolerant and psychrophilic microorganisms have developed different adaptation strategies to cope with the

Genetic and Phenotypic Features of the Five Known Polyaminopathies: A Critical Narrative Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polyaminopathies are a recently described family of rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders. Polyaminopathies disrupt the biosynthesis of the primary polyamines: putrescine, spermidine, and spermine. Snyder–Robinson syndrome results from hemizygous loss‐of‐function variants in the spermine synthase (SMS) gene, resulting in decreased or ...

The effect of putrescine on space use and activity in sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Fish use odor to avoid exposure to predation and disease. Harnessing these odors as repellents is proving useful for management initiatives that conserve native species or control invasive populations.

Spermidine Reproduces the Anti‐Inflammatory Effects of Intermittent Fasting and Prevents Urate and Calcium Pyrophosphate Crystal‐Induced Inflammation

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Gout caused by the formation of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals and calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) deposition disease are two major types of microcrystalline pathologies in adults. They are responsible for recurrent flares that rely on interleukin (IL) 1β via activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome.
