Exploring the Anticancer Activity of Ruthenium(II)–Arene and Copper(I) Complexes Bearing N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Ligands Containing Azido, Pyridinium, and Ethisterone‐Derived Triazole Groups

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 24, 21 August 2026.
A versatile library of backbone‐functionalized N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands was developed and efficiently converted into Cu(I) and Ru(II) NHC complexes, demonstrating that ligand functionalization strongly modulates anticancer activity, with Cu(I)–NHC species showing potent and selective antiproliferative effects against ovarian and breast ...

From Molecules to Materials: The Role of Halogen Bonds in Electron Donor–Acceptor Complex Mediated Organic Synthesis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 30, 12 August 2026.
This Concept highlights recent advances in organic synthesis based on electron donor–acceptor (EDA) complex photochemistry, with emphasis on halogen bonding. Halides play a dual role as key components of this noncovalent interaction, and as reactivity‐enabling leaving groups.

Human Leukocyte Elastase Triggered Nanoparticles for Targeted Antimicrobial Delivery and Oral Microbial Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study explores enzyme‐responsive nanoparticles for targeted antimicrobial release in inflamed oral environments. Nanoparticles formed by complexing peptides and chlorhexidine respond to human leukocyte elastase and release chlorhexidine selectively. P7 (ECAAPVCE)‐based formulations show optimal properties and stability, with antimicrobial activity

Heart‐Specific Spinal and Vagal Afferents: Transcriptomic Signatures and Optogenetically Modulated Functional Coupling With Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Selective purification of heart‐specific spinal and vagal sensory neurons by retrograde labeling and FACS purification showed enhanced spontaneous, optogenetic, and chemically stimulated Ca2+ activity. Transcriptomic profiling identified distinct ion channel and GPCR signatures in heart‐specific sensory neurons.
