DRUG-PYRIDOXAL PHOSPHATE INTERACTIONS
Drug Metabolism and Drug Interactions, 1982In this review it has been pointed out that vitamin B6 and its vitamers can be involved in many interactions with a number of drugs, as well as with the actions of various endocrines and neurotransmitters. Nutritional deficiencies, especially of vitamins and proteins, can affect the manner in which drugs undergo biotransformation, and thereby may also ...

Pyridoxal-5′-phosphate and pyridoxal biokinetics in aging Wistar rats
Experimental Gerontology, 1991Biokinetic parameters of plasma pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP) and pyridoxal (PL) disposition were studied in male Wistar rats aged 8 and 27 months kept from weaning on a purified diet containing 250 g casein and 6 mg pyridoxine.HCl per kg. Baseline plasma PLP concentration was lower in the older animals (514 +/- 56 nmol/L for young and 317 +/- 124 nmol ...

Assay of pyridoxal-5'-phosphate, pyridoxal and pyridoxic acid in biological material.
International journal for vitamin and nutrition research. Internationale Zeitschrift fur Vitamin- und Ernahrungsforschung. Journal international de vitaminologie et de nutrition, 1990The two vitamin B6-vitamers having an aldehyde function are oxidised to the corresponding acids and subjected to an HPLC separation on an RP 18 phase with a solvent consisting of 5% methanol in phosphate buffer at pH 3.5. The detection is carried out by fluorometry with excitation at 318 nm and emission at 418 nm.

Inactivation of microbial pyridoxal kinase by pyridoxal.
Acta vitaminologica et enzymologica, 1982Pyridoxal kinase from Escherichia coli and bakers' yeast was inactivated by pyridoxal while the enzyme from rat and pig brain was not. The inactivation of the enzyme purified from E. coli was reversible and was rendered irreversible by the reduction with NaBH4.

New Pathway of Conversion of Pyridoxal to 4-Pyridoxic Acid
Enzyme, 1976The only enzyme demonstrated so far to catalyze the formation of 4-pyridoxic acid, the final excretory product of vitamin B6, was aldehyde oxidase. In this paper we have presented an evidence that another enzyme, NAD+-dependent aldehyde dehydrogenase, is capable of catalyzing this reaction.

Interaction between Pyridoxal Kinase and Pyridoxal-5-phosphate-Dependent Enzymes
Journal of Biochemistry, 2003The interactions of two pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzymes, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and glutamate decarboxylase (GAD), with pyridoxal kinase (PK) were studied by fluorescence polarization as well as surface plasmon resonance techniques. The results demonstrated that PK can specifically bind to ALT and GAD.

Pyridoxal-specific antibodies obtained with a synthetic pyridoxal-polypeptide conjugate
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1966Abstract The attachment of pyridoxal to a non-antigenic synthetic branched polypeptide resulted in an immunogenic macromolecule, capable of eliciting in rabbits antibodies with specificity directed against the pyridoxal moiety. The anti-pyridoxal antibodies were purified immunospecifically, making use of ion-exchange chromatography in 8 M urea.

We quantified pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP), pyridoxal (PL), and 4-pyridoxic acid (PA) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of children and to investigate the effect of age, sex, epilepsy, and anti-epileptic drug (AED) therapy on these vitamers.CSF samples prospectively collected from 116 pediatric patients were analyzed. PLP, PL, and PA were measured using

Binding of a photoaffinity analogue of pyridoxal to pyridoxal kinase
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1990The binding of pyridoxal analogues to the structural domains of pyridoxal kinase was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy and chromatographic techniques. Two fragments of 24 and 16 kDa, arising from limited proteolysis of the native enzyme, were separated by ion‐exchange chromatography and used for binding studies with pyridoxal oxime.

Polarographische bestimmung des pyridoxals und pyridoxal-5-phosphats
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry (1959), 1960The estimation of pyridoxal together with pyridoxal-5-phosphate has been carried out by two polarographic methods. The first method is based upon the varying heights of the pyridoxal waves between ph 2 and 9. Since the height of the wave of the pyridoxal-5-phosphate practically does not alter with the ph, the decrease in the wave height of the mixture ...
