Expanding the Phenotype of CYFIP2‐Related Developmental Epileptic Encephalopathy: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of the Child Neurology Society, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 314-323, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Pathogenic CYFIP2 variants cause developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE), characterized by early‐onset intractable epilepsy and developmental delay. The disease course has not been delineated. Codon Arg87 is a de novo mutational hotspot associated with a severe DEE phenotype via gain‐of‐function mechanisms. Currently, there

Effects of Mealworm‐Based Synbiotics on Productive Performance, Egg Quality, Blood Metabolites, and Gut Health in Laying Japanese Quails

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study evaluated synbiotics combining Lactobacillus plantarum or a commercial probiotic (Parsilact) with 1% mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) meal in laying quails. Synbiotic supplementation did not affect feed intake, egg production, or feed efficiency but significantly improved egg quality, increasing egg weight and yolk proportion.

Comparison of the Nutritional Value of Locally Formulated Food Preparations and Standard Ready‐to‐Use Therapeutic Foods for the Management of Uncomplicated Severe Acute Malnutrition in Children Under Five in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
Locally formulated food preparations were mostly milk‐ and peanut‐free, often exceeding protein and lipid recommendations but deficient in vitamins (A, D, E, K, B12, folate), and critical minerals (calcium, iron, iodine, selenium, zinc). Compliance with Codex standards was very low, confirming macronutrient inadequacy but widespread micronutrient gaps.

Nutritional Interventions for Enhancing Sleep Quality: The Role of Diet and Key Nutrients in Regulating Sleep Patterns and Disorders

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
This review highlights the growing evidence linking diet and key nutrients with sleep quality and circadian regulation. Nutrients such as tryptophan, magnesium, and omega‐3 fatty acids, along with dietary patterns like the Mediterranean and plant‐based diets, demonstrate positive associations with sleep duration and efficiency.

Enhancement of vitamin B6 production driven by omics analysis combined with fermentation optimization

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories
Background Microbial engineering aims to enhance the ability of bacteria to produce valuable products, including vitamin B6 for various applications. Numerous microorganisms naturally produce vitamin B6, yet the metabolic pathways involved are rigorously
