A post hoc analysis of linaclotide in pediatric patients with functional constipation and neurodevelopmental disorders

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Functional constipation (FC) is common in children with comorbid neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) and its optimal treatment may be challenged by adherence and medication tolerability issues in this population. We assessed the efficacy and safety of linaclotide in pediatric patients with FC and NDD.

Highly sensitive pyrogen detection on medical devices by the monocyte activation test

open access: yes, 2014
Pyrogens are components of microorganisms, like bacteria, viruses or fungi, which can induce a complex inflammatory response in the human body. Pyrogen contamination on medical devices prior operation is still critical and associated with severe ...

European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition/North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition guidelines for treatment of functional constipation in children aged 0–18 years

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Functional constipation (FC) is common in childhood, significantly impacting quality of life. Since the 2014 international guideline, new evidence has been published, and methods on making guidelines have developed. This treatment guideline for FC in children aged 0–18 years is a collaborative effort of the European and North ...

Systematic review of membrane components of Gram-positive bacteria responsible as pyrogens for inducing human monocyte / macrophage cytokine release

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2012
Fifty years after the elucidation of lipopolysaccharides (LPS, endotoxin) as the principal structure of Gram-negative bacteria activating the human immune system, its Gram-positive counterpart is still under debate.

Liver function and pyrexia caused by a pyrogen from Escherichia coli, lysergic acid diethylamide and dinitrophenol

open access: yes, 1966
Rabbits with liver damaged by carbon tetrachloride do not respond with hyperthermia to a lipopolysaccharide pyrogen from Escherichia coli or dinitrophenol, but lysergic acid diethylamide develops its usual effect.

Ultrasound‐Guided Liposomal vs. Conventional Bupivacaine Erector Spinae Plane Block Plus Gabapentin for Postherpetic Neuralgia

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare efficacy and safety of ultrasound‐guided erector spinae plane block (ESPB) using liposomal (LB) versus conventional bupivacaine (CB), each plus standardized gabapentin, in patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). A total of 116 PHN patients were randomized to ESPB‐LB or ESPB‐CB; both groups received standardized ...

Autologous minimally manipulated adipose‐derived stromal vascular fraction in knee osteoarthritis: Lasting symptom relief and imaging evidence from a 12‐month prospective study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intra‐articular autologous transplantation of adipose‐derived connective tissue micrografts rich in stromal vascular fraction (CTM‐SVF), obtained using an enzyme‐free system (Hy‐Tissue® SVF) for knee osteoarthritis (OA). Methods Thirty patients (mean age of 53.3 ± 6.4 years) with Kellgren–Lawrence

Leukocytic pyrogen and sodium acetylsalicylate on hypothalamic neurons in the cat

open access: yes, 1975
Leukocytic pyrogen and sodium acetylsalicyclate (NaASA) were microinjected into the preoptic/anterior hypothalamic (PO/AH) area of cats to examine the direct effects of these agents on identified thermoregulatory neurons.

Collagen‐membrane‐covered matrix‐associated chondrocyte implantation improves safety over periosteum‐covered MACI for large knee cartilage defects: A real‐world data analysis in the registry study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This registry study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of collagen membrane‐covered matrix‐associated autologous chondrocyte implantation (cMACI) versus periosteum‐covered MACI (pMACI) for large knee cartilage defects (Outerbridge III–IV, ≥4 cm²) in the femorotibial and/or patellofemoral joints with a minimum 2‐year follow ...
