Soft, Degradable, and Magnetic Microcarriers for Encapsulation and Guided Transport of Drugs and 3D Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents soft, degradable hydrogel microcarriers that combine magnetic responsiveness with the ability to host multiple therapeutic and cellular components. Produced by droplet microfluidics, the carriers maintain structural integrity during manipulation, permit controlled breakdown under physiological conditions, and enable guided motion for

Hemozoin is a potent adjuvant for hemagglutinin split vaccine without pyrogenicity in ferrets

open access: yes, 2014
BackgroundSynthetic hemozoin (sHZ, also known as β-hematin) from monomeric heme is a particle adjuvant which activates antigen-presenting cells (APCs), such as dendritic cells and macrophages, and enhances humoral immune responses to several antigens ...

Pharmacological effects of gastrodin: Insight into neurological diseases and mechanism in ferroptosis and pyroptosis

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 74-83, Spring 2025.
Pharmacological effects of gastrodin include prevention and treatment of cognitive decline and reperfusion injuries, anticonvulsion, antiepilepsy, antidepressants, and analgesia, which are related to antiferroptosis and antipyroptosis. Abstract Gastrodin, as an effective monomer of gastrodia elata, plays a significant role in anti‐inflammatory ...

Decrease in Pyrogenicity of Muramyl Dipeptide After Coupling With Luteinizing Hormone-Releasing Hormone

open access: yes, 1988
Muramyl dipeptide (MDP) and its adjuvant active derivative lysine-MDP (Lys-MDP) have been demonstrated to be pyrogenic and to induce endogenous pyrogen (EP) production in vivo and in vitro.

Microbiological safety in the reuse of materials in home enteral nutrition: A quantitative in vitro experimental study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction In home enteral nutrition (HEN), the reuse of packaging and administration materials beyond the recommended period, combined with inadequate hygiene practice, increase the risk of microbiological contamination. This study assessed the risk through a simulation that reproduced real‐world usage conditions and hygiene practices ...

Gasdermin‐Mediated Pyroptosis: Novel Strategies Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Pyroptosis is a double‐edged sword in colorectal cancer (CRC): chronic low‐grade pyroptosis promotes tumor progression, whereas acute induction of pyroptosis in cancer cells triggers antitumor immunity and enhances therapeutic response. Targeting gasdermin‐mediated pyroptosis represents a promising strategy for CRC treatment.
