Triggering Pyroptosis in Cancer
Pyroptosis is an inflammatory programmed cell death recently identified as a crucial cellular process in various diseases, including cancers. Unlike other forms of cell death, canonical pyroptosis involves the specific cleavage of gasdermin by caspase-1, resulting in cell membrane damage and the release of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18.

FeDSNP‐Pa, a metallized nanoparticle loaded with sodium pyruvate (Pa), exerts triple therapeutic effects by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), suppressing inflammatory responses, and inhibiting pyroptosis signaling pathways. This multifunctional neuroprotective strategy protecting retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) from elevated intraocular pressure ...

Inflammatory caspases : key regulators of inflammation and cell death [PDF]
The innate immune system represents the first line of defence against infectious agents, and co-ordinates cellular and molecular mechanisms that result in effective inflammatory and anti-microbial responses against pathogens.

The role of pyroptosis in inflammatory diseases
Programmed cell death has crucial roles in the physiological maturation of an organism, the maintenance of metabolism, and disease progression. Pyroptosis, a form of programmed cell death which has recently received much attention, is closely related to inflammation and occurs via canonical, non-canonical, caspase-3-dependent, and unclassified pathways.

PANoptosis: A Cell Death Characterized by Pyroptosis, Apoptosis, and Necroptosis.
PANoptosis is a new cell death proposed by Malireddi et al in 2019, which is characterized by pyroptosis, apoptosis and necroptosis, but cannot be explained by any of them alone.

Pyroptosis‐Inducing Biomaterials Pave the Way for Transformative Antitumor Immunotherapy
Pyroptosis can effectively overcome immunosuppression and reactivate antitumor immunity. However, pyroptosis initiation is challenging. First, the underlying biological mechanisms of pyroptosis are complex, and a variety of gasdermin family proteins can ...

Inhibition of caspase-1 prolongs survival of mice infected with rabies virus [PDF]
Rabies virus infects almost all mammals resulting in lethal disease. To date there is no treatment available for symptomatic rabies and there is an urgent need to develop treatment strategies that would prolong survival, thereby providing a window of ...
