Effects of PYY and PP on endocrine pancreas
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1983Novel intestinal polypeptide YY (PYY) and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) were infused in fed anaesthetized rats. The peptides (10 and 100 pmol/kg · min) were administered during 30 min, alone, together with glucose or together with arginine. Plasma concentrations of glucose, insulin and glucagon were measured.

Characterization of two forms of peptide YY, PYY(1–36) and PYY(3–36), in the rabbit
Peptides, 1994Peptide YY (PYY) has been purified as a 36 amino acid peptide from intestinal extracts of several mammalian species including pig, rat, dog, and man. The primary structure of rabbit PYY is still unknown, although rabbit tissues have extensively been used for characterization of PYY receptor subtypes and receptor subtype-mediated actions.

Comparison of the inhibitory effects of PYY(3-36) and PYY(1-36) on gastric emptying in rats
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 2004We compared the effects of the two molecular forms of the brain-gut peptide YY (PYY), PYY(1-36) and PYY(3-36), on gastric emptying. Unanesthetized rats received 20-min intravenous infusions of rat PYY(1-36) (0, 1.7, 5, 17, 50, 100, 170 pmol·kg−1·min−1) and rat PYY(3-36) (0, 0.5, 1.7, 5, 17, 50, 100, 170 pmol·kg−1·min−1), either alone or combined, and ...

PYY and the pancreas: Inhibition of tumor growth and inflammation
Peptides, 2007Peptide YY (PYY) orchestrates function of the gut and pancreas by regulating growth, digestion and absorption. In addition to its physiological role, PYY exhibits immune and antitrophic properties in the pancreas by decreasing cytokine and amylase release.

Protein PYY and Its Role in Metabolism
2014The hormone PYY is released from the distal gut in response to nutrient ingestion. Numerous studies have shown that PYY3-36, the most abundant circulating isoform of PYY, reduces food intake when given to obese rodents and humans. Its infusion to mimic postprandial levels in fasting subjects inhibits appetite, suggesting a physiological role in ...

Plasma peptide YY (PYY) in dumping syndrome
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1985The newly isolated hormonal peptide PYY is mainly localized to endocrine cells of the lower intestinal mucosa. The release of PYY by oral glucose was studied in six patients with the dumping syndrome to ascertain the effect of this condition on PYY release.

Translational studies on PYY as a novel target in obesity
Current Opinion in Pharmacology, 2011The obesity epidemic has a direct impact on every aspect of health. Current strategies to treat obesity are limited and there is a need to pioneer novel solutions. Anorectic gut hormones, physiologically secreted post-prandially to mediate satiety, have recently emerged as potential therapeutic targets in obesity. Peptide tyrosine tyrosine (PYY) is one
