The 'PREXCEL-Q Method' for qPCR

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Science, 2008
The purpose of this manuscript is to describe a reliable approach to quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assay development and project management, which is currently embodied in the Excel 2003-based software program named 'PREXCEL-Q' (P-Q) (formerly known as 'FocusField2-6Gallup-qPCRSet-upTool-001,' 'FF2-6-001 qPCR set-up tool' or ...

Clinical biochemical significance of STAT6, ERG, and miR-647 expression in prostate cancer: Associations with tumor aggressiveness and patient prognosis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry
Background: Reliable molecular indicators that can facilitate early detection and prognosis prediction in prostate cancer are still insufficient. Although Transcription 6 (STAT6), ERG, and microRNA-647 (miR-647) have recently been recognized as key ...

Application of uMelt SM algorithm in Real-time PCR melting curve analysis [PDF]

open access: yesمجله بیوتکنولوژی کشاورزی, 2018
One of the challenges in interpreting the results obtained in qPCR is to make sure the amplicons are specific and that the melting curve analysis is used to examine it.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Identification and Analysis Long Noncoding RNA in Response to Cold Stress in Cucumber

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are crucial components of plant genomes, often exceeding the number of protein-coding genes. Although recent studies have highlighted the importance of plant lncRNAs in low-temperature responses, the identification and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Optimization and validation of a real-time PCR method for the simultaneous detection of Lactococcus garvieae and Streptococcus agalactiae in fish

open access: yesJournal of BioScience and Biotechnology
Background: Lactococcus garvieae and Streptococcus agalactiae infections contribute to heavy losses in aquaculture farms worldwide. Currently, available pathogen diagnostic tools use biochemical and microbiological methods beleaguered by very low ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Co-Acquired Nanovirus and Geminivirus Exhibit a Contrasted Localization within Their Common Aphid Vector

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) plant viruses belong to the families Geminiviridae and Nanoviridae. They are transmitted by Hemipteran insects in a circulative, mostly non-propagative, manner.

pH Coupled Citric Acid Feeding Strategy to Promote Spore Production of Bacillus licheniformis

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2023
The effects of citric acid addition coupled with pH on cell growth, metabolism, and spore yield of B. licheniformis were studied in a 30 L bioreactor, and the gene expression differences related to energy metabolism, oxidative stress effect, and amino ...
