A portfolio diversification measure in the unit interval: A coherent and practical approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract In this article, we introduce and examine the efficiency of a portfolio diversification measure. Using the recently developed coherence properties for diversification measures as well as other criteria, we show that the novel measure outperforms the most commonly used diversification measures.

Genomic prediction in the wild: A case study in Soay sheep

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 31, Issue 24, Page 6541-6555, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Genomic prediction, the technique whereby an individual's genetic component of their phenotype is estimated from its genome, has revolutionised animal and plant breeding and medical genetics. However, despite being first introduced nearly two decades ago, it has hardly been adopted by the evolutionary genetics community studying wild organisms.

Fast and Accurate Detection of Multiple QTL [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We present a new computational scheme that enables efficient and reliable Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) scans for experimental populations. Using a standard brute-force exhaustive search effectively prohibits accurate QTL scans involving more than two loci to be performed in practice, at least if permutation testing is used to determine significance ...

Detection and Mapping of Quantitative Trait Loci that Determine Responsiveness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Exposure to 70% N2O evokes a robust antinociceptive effect in C57BL/6 (B6) but not in DBA/2 (D2) inbred mice. This study was conducted to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) in the mouse genome that might determine responsiveness to N2O.

Fine mapping of multiple QTL using combined linkage and linkage disequilibrium mapping – A comparison of single QTL and multi QTL methods [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2007
Abstract Two previously described QTL mapping methods, which combine linkage analysis (LA) and linkage disequilibrium analysis (LD), were compared for their ability to detect and map multiple QTL. The methods were tested on five different simulated data sets in which the exact QTL positions were known.

A panoramic view of cotton resistance to Verticillium dahliae: From genetic architectures to precision genomic selection

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study identified 10 reliable quantitative trait loci (QTLs) governing cotton resistance to V. dahliae in various environments through a genome‐wide association analysis (GWAS) using an upland cotton population. The pyramid of these 10 elite alleles reduced the disease index of cotton to V. dahliae from 70 to 20.

Inheritance of lipid content in rice grain (review)

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России
Rice is an important food product for people. Milled white rice is mainly used or food purposes, but unpolished rice is also used. The cells of the aleurone layer and the embryo of the rice grain contain lipids, the presence of which strengthens the ...

A Bayesian test to identify variance effects [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Identifying genetic variants that regulate quantitative traits, or QTLs, is the primary focus of the field of statistical genetics. Most current methods are limited to identifying mean effects, or associations between genotype and the mean value of a quantitative trait.

Fast genetic mapping of complex traits in C. elegans using millions of individuals in bulk. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Genetic studies of complex traits in animals have been hindered by the need to generate, maintain, and phenotype large panels of recombinant lines. We developed a new method, C.

Mapping of loci from Solanum lycopersicoides conferring resistance or susceptibility to Botrytis cinerea in tomato [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum, syn. Lycopersicon esculentum) is susceptible to the necrotrophic ascomycete and causal agent of gray mold, Botrytis cinerea.
