A Second-Order Approximation to Technology Choices [PDF]
Resources used in scientific activities are, as any other, scarce. Hence, the economic system has, in every time moment, to choose how to allocate technological inputs.

Quadratic approximation and its application to acceleration of convergence [PDF]
This thesis is a study of quadratic approximation and its application to the acceleration of slowly converging sequences arising, in particular, from the numerical integration of an (improper) integral with singularity.

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

GPU-accelerated rendering of vector strokes with piecewise quadratic approximation
Vector graphics are widely used in areas such as logo design and digital painting, including both stroked and filled paths as primitives. GPU-based rendering for filled paths already has well-established solutions. Due to the complexity of stroked paths,

This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.

A Soft Robotic Device for Targeted Massage Therapy of Residual Limbs
Residual limb edema after amputation can hinder recovery and delay prosthetic fitting. This study presents a soft‐robotic wearable device that delivers sequential compression through pneumatic McKibben actuators. By replicating the principles of manual lymphatic drainage, the device generates controlled mechanotherapeutic pressure patterns, providing a

On Linear Quadratic Approximations
We prove the generality of the methodology proposed in Benigno and Woodford (2006). We show that, even in the presence of a distorted steady state, it is always possible and relatively simple to obtain a purely quadratic approximation to the welfare ...

Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

Efficient and Robust Standing Postures of Quadruped Robots
A calibrated static framework estimates load, optimizes torques, and adapts posture so quadruped robots stand efficiently and robustly under external payloads, achieving up to 50% lower torque demand. Inspired by the natural posture adjustments of animals under external loading, this article presents an optimization‐based framework for minimizing joint

Quadratic approximation for some badly rational approximable power series
We explicitly compute the exponents of quadratic approximation of two algebraic elements over velds of power series with coefficients in a nite field.
