On the Geodesic Form of Non-Relativistic Dynamic Equations

open access: yes, 1999
It is shown that any second order dynamic equation on a configuration bundle $Q\to R$ of non-relativistic mechanics is equivalent to a geodesic equation with respect to a (non-linear) connection on the tangent bundle $TQ\to Q$.

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

On the number of cubic orders of bounded discriminant having automorphism group $C_3$, and related problems

open access: yes, 2013
For a binary quadratic form $Q$, we consider the action of $\mathrm{SO}_Q$ on a two-dimensional vector space. This representation yields perhaps the simplest nontrivial example of a prehomogeneous vector space that is not irreducible, and of a coregular ...

A Correction to the Paper “Quadratic Hamiltonian Vector Fields”

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1996
The authors present a corrected version of Theorem 5.2 from their paper [ibid. 107, No. 1, 80-95 (1994; Zbl 0791.34048)].

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Black hole solutions in the quadratic Weyl conformal geometric theory of gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
We consider numerical black hole solutions in the Weyl conformal geometry and its associated conformally invariant Weyl quadratic gravity. In this model, Einstein gravity (with a positive cosmological constant) is recovered in the spontaneously broken ...

Gravitomagnetic Moments of the Fundamental Fields

open access: yes, 1998
The quadratic form of the Dirac equation in a Riemann spacetime yields a gravitational gyromagnetic ratio \kappa_S = 2 for the interaction of a Dirac spinor with curvature. A gravitational gyromagnetic ratio \kappa_S = 1 is also found for the interaction

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Asymptotically safe f(R)-gravity coupled to matter II: Global solutions

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
Ultraviolet fixed point functions of the functional renormalisation group equation for f(R)-gravity coupled to matter fields are discussed. The metric is split via the exponential parameterisation into a background metric and a fluctuating part, the ...

SL(2, R) × U(1) symmetry and quasinormal modes in the self-dual warped AdS black hole

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
The algebraic approach to the spectrum of quasinormal modes has been made as simple as possible for the BTZ black hole by the strategy developed in [16].
