Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

INDICATION OF THE CONDITION OF VEGETATION IN MAGNITOGORSK FOR ASSESSING THE QUALITY OF ATMOSPHERIC AIR AND IMPROVING ITS MONITORING SYSTEM

open access: yesГеографический вестник = Geographical bulletin
In 2016, specialists from the research institute UralNII Ecology conducted a scientific experiment in Magnitogorsk to assess the impact of atmospheric air pollution on vegetation in different parts of the city. The purpose of the study was to assess the condition of vegetation in different areas by measuring chlorophyll fluorescence and carotenoid ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Influence of stream flow on epilithic diatom communities and its consequence for water quality monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Epilithic diatom communities and relevant physico-chemical variables were studied between 3 May and 16 July 1993 in Harwood Beck, an oligotrophic stream in Upper Teesdale, and the River Browney, a lowland eutrophic river.
