Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Classroom games in economics : a quantitative assessment of the 'beer game' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Using an experiment, I compare the use of the 'Beer Distribution' classroom game with the more traditional 'chalk and talk' approach to teach students about inventories and the macroeconomy.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Quantifying water erosion’s impact on soil productivity of croplands in China

open access: yesNational Science Open
Soil degradation in croplands caused by water erosion significantly threatens food security. However, quantitative effects of current and future water erosion on soil productivity in croplands remain uncertain.

On Flight Risk Analysis Method Based on Stability Region of Dynamic System Under Icing Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The occurrence of loss of control in flight is often accompanied by deep coupling of flight parameters. In order to explore the mechanism of coupling induced flight risk, a method of flight risk assessment based on the stability region of a nonlinear ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Quantitative Assessment of Desertification Using Landsat Data on a Regional Scale – A Case Study in the Ordos Plateau, China

open access: yesSensors, 2009
Desertification is a serious threat to the ecological environment and social economy in our world and there is a pressing need to develop a reasonable and reproducible method to assess it at different scales. In this paper, the Ordos Plateau in China was

Challenges in Risk Assessment: Quantitative Risk Assessment

open access: yesProcedia Food Science, 2016
AbstractThe process of risk analysis consists out of three components, risk assessment, risk management and risk communication. These components are internationally well spread by Codex Alimentarius Commission as being the basis for setting science based standards, criteria on food safety hazards, e.g. setting maximum limits of mycotoxins in foodstuffs.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
