Three-dimensional quantitative description and analysis of cockroach locomotion

2013 IEEE 8th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2013
This paper provides a three-dimensional quantitative description method of cockroach movement. An experimental platform is built to observe the locomotion of cockroach, which is made of two parts: a high speed camera is used to record the locomotion, and two mirrors that locate two franks provide visual frames.

Quantitative Image Analysis For Geologic Core Description

Journal of Sedimentary Research, 2017
Abstract:  Many basic rock properties—such as lithology, bedding, grain size, sorting, and porosity—are expressed in geologic cores by changes in color, brightness, and texture. Quantitative descriptive rock properties can thus be derived from digital core images.

Quantitative Data Analysis: Descriptive, Univariate, and Bivariate Statistics

2022
This chapter explores the fundamental aspects of quantitative data analysis and explains the most commonly used analytical techniques: descriptive, univariate, and bivariate statistics. Statistics are one of the tools researchers use to see patterns in the quantitative data they collect and to explore relationships between different variables of ...

Descriptive Quantitative Analysis of Hallux Abductovalgus Transverse Plane Radiographic Parameters

The Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, 2014
Although the transverse plane radiographic parameters of the first intermetatarsal angle (IMA), hallux abductus angle (HAA), and the metatarsal-sesamoid position (MSP) form the basis of preoperative procedure selection and postoperative surgical evaluation of the hallux abductovalgus deformity, the so-called normal values of these measurements have not

Using an architecture description language for quantitative analysis of real-time systems

Proceedings of the 3rd international workshop on Software and performance, 2002
An architecture description language (ADL) specifies the structure of an overall system as an assembly of interacting components. ADLs can serve as input to a variety of development tools. We outline the Avionics Architecture Description Language, an emerging SAE standard for describing the architectures of hard real-time, safety-critical embedded ...

Quantitative Description of Microbial Communities Using Lipid Analysis

2018
Determining the community structure of a microbial assemblage is one of the greatest challenges facing microbial ecologists. Unlike eukaryotes, the morphology of prokaryotes often yields little or no information concerning the phylogenetic affiliation or the ecological role of the organisms.

Quantitative descriptive analysis of Italian polenta produced with different corn cultivars

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2011
AbstractBACKGROUND: Polenta is a porridge‐like dish, generally made by mixing cornmeal with salt water and stirring constantly while cooking over a low heat. It can be eaten plain, straight from the pan, or topped with various foods (cheeses, meat, sausages, fish, etc.). It is most popular in northern Italy but can also be found in Switzerland, Austria,

Quantitative description of zircon morphology and its dynamics analysis

Science in China Series D: Earth Sciences, 1998
The morphology of zircon can be divided into three independent parts: prism habit consisting of 100 and 110, pyramid habit consisting of 211 and 101, and elongation habit consisting of prism and pyramid. Hence, prism index, pyramid index and elongation index are presented in order to describe the morphology of zircon quantitatively.
