EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Genomic prediction for root and yield traits of barley under a water availability gradient: a case study comparing different spatial adjustments

open access: yesPlant Methods
Background In drought periods, water use efficiency depends on the capacity of roots to extract water from deep soil. A semi-field phenotyping facility (RadiMax) was used to investigate above-ground and root traits in spring barley when grown under a ...

Quantitative Molecular Genetics of Longevity in Drosophila melanogaster.

open access: yes, 2004
Limited life span and senescence are universal phenomena, controlled by genetic and environmental factors whose interactions both limit life span and generate variation in life span between individuals, populations and species.

The current and future use of ridge regression for prediction in quantitative genetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In recent years, there has been a considerable amount of research on the use of regularization methods for inference and prediction in quantitative genetics. Such research mostly focuses on selection of markers and shrinkage of their effects.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Network analyses unraveled the complex interactions in the rumen microbiota associated with methane emission in dairy cattle

open access: yesAnimal Microbiome
Background Methane emissions from livestock, particularly from dairy cattle, represent a significant source of greenhouse gas, contributing to the global climate crisis.

Quantitative Genetics of Behavioral Phenotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The fundamental aim of behavioral genetics is to build a coupling between genetic variance and behavioral phenotype variance. This task differs in terms of difficulty when we consider the presence of both monogenetic and polygenetic traits.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Quantitative genetics of intraspecies hybrids [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 1999
Quantitative genetics generally is based on the properties of the randomly fertilized (RF) population or inbred derivatives of it. Simple hybrids and hybrid swarms do not conform to this model; and only some properties of hybrid means appear to have been available.
