Spectroscopy of the Double Quasars Q1343+264 Ab: II. the Relationship between Galaxies Ans QSO C~IV Absorption Lines -

open access: yes, 1994
We present spectra of QSOs 1343+266 A B, covering Ly-beta to C~IV emission at 2 ~resolution, and find further evidence that this system is not gravitationally lensed. We see, however, a large number of Ly-alpha and some C~IV absorption features common to both spectra.

Machine Learning–Driven Near‐ and Mid‐Infrared Chemometrics for Rapid, Cost‐Effective COVID‐19 Screening in Dried Plasma

open access: yesJournal of Chemometrics, Volume 39, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The COVID‐19 pandemic has highlighted the urgent need for rapid, accurate, and cost‐effective diagnostic alternatives to conventional methods such as RT‐qPCR and immunoassays. In this study, we explored the potential of vibrational spectroscopy, specifically near‐infrared (NIR) and mid‐infrared (MID) spectroscopy, for detecting SARS‐CoV‐2 ...

High-Resolution Absorption Spectroscopy of Multiphase, High-Metallicity Gas Associated with the Luminous Quasar HE 0226–4110 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present FUSE and HST STIS observations of the absorption-line system near the emission redshift of the radio-quiet, X-ray-bright quasar HE 0226-4110 (z = 0.495, V = 15.2).

Tracking Outflow Using Line Locking (TOLL). II. Large Line-locking Web Identified in Quasar J151352+085555

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Quasar outflows often consist of two clouds with velocity separations matching the doublet spacings of common UV resonance transitions, a phenomenon known as line locking, which is commonly observed in quasar spectra.

Localized Energy Absorption through LaB6 Surface Modification of PA12 Enables Enhanced Tensile Performance in Diode Laser PBF‐LB

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 5, Issue 12, November 2025.
LaB6 surface modification of PA12 enables efficient NIR diode laser PBF‐LB processing, with enhanced tensile strength and tailored microstructures achieved at minimal additionaly energy. By reducing the need for high filler content, this approach expands the options and performance levels of advanced industrial‐grade polymer additive manufacturing. The

Long Dark Gaps in the Lyβ Forest at z < 6: Evidence of Ultra-late Reionization from XQR-30 Spectra

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2022
We present a new investigation of the intergalactic medium near reionization using dark gaps in the Ly β forest. With its lower optical depth, Ly β offers a potentially more sensitive probe to any remaining neutral gas compared to the commonly used Ly α ...

3D SR‐μXCT analysis for lithology detection: Application to Ryugu sample A0159

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 11, Page 2623-2654, November 2025.
Abstract Extraterrestrial breccia samples are formed through impact‐related processes that combine the fragments of distinct lithologies. As such, they are valuable indicators of the complex formation and evolution history of planetesimals in our solar system.

THE SLOAN DIGITAL SKY SURVEY REVERBERATION MAPPING PROJECT: RAPID C iv BROAD ABSORPTION LINE VARIABILITY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report the discovery of rapid variations of a high-velocity C iv broad absorption line trough in the quasar SDSS J141007.74+541203.3. This object was intensively observed in 2014 as a part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Reverberation Mapping Project,
