Synthesis of Quinolines and Tetrahydroquinolines From Aromatic Propargylamines via Activator‐Free Gold Catalysis in Hexafluoroisopropanol

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
A straightforward, gold‐catalyzed cycloisomerization of aromatic propargylamines is reported, enabling efficient access to quinoline and tetrahydroquinoline derivatives. Hexafluoroisopropanol acts as both solvent and activator, eliminating the need for silver salts or additives.

The Solid‐State Emission of AIPE‐Active Tricarbonylrhenium(I) Complexes Shifts to the Red: The Unexpected Performance of Triphenylphosphine Derivatives

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
New phosphino tricarbonylrhenium(I) complexes have efficient red emission in the aggregate and solid states. The good photostability and the vast possibilities of chemical modifications make these Re‐based complexes the starting point of a new generation of red emitters with aggregation‐induced phosphorescence emission (AIPE) characteristics.

Single Boron Coordination on a Strong [1,2,5]Thiadiazolo[3,4‐g]Quinoxaline Acceptor Enables Intense NIR‐II Absorption for Photoacoustic Imaging‐Guided Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Single‐boron coordination converts the strong [1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4‐g]quinoxaline (TQ) acceptor into a superior electron‐deficient building block. Subsequent donor engineering and planarity modulation yield BLD3 NPs with intense NIR‐II absorption and high photothermal efficiency for effective photoacoustic imaging‐guided tumor therapy. Evaluation of Novel Cloxyquin Analogs for K2P18.1 Channel Modulation

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 7, July 2026.
5‐Chloro‐/5‐bromoquinolines reveal how subtle changes at the 8‐position of the quinoline scaffold tune activity at hK2P18.1 channels. Among 14 synthesized derivatives, benzaldimine 3d emerged as a new lead for activator optimization potentiating hK2P18.1 activity by around 60% at 100 µM.

Mining for Novel Tryptophanase A: Extremophilic Organisms Ardenticatena maritima and Haloarcula japonica as Alternatives to E. coli in the Synthesis of Tryptophan Analogues

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
Novel extremophilic tryptophanases (TnaAs) are tested in the synthesis of L‐tryptophan analogues. This study compares a thermophilic and a halophilic TnaA with E. coli TnaA as benchmark, from both structural and catalytic perspectives, revealing enhanced stability, and a broader substrate scope for the new homologues.
