Cryoimmunoelectron microscopic localization of synaptic proteins in nerve terminals and astrocytic cells

open access: yes, 2004
In the present study the cryo-immunogold technique was used and optimized for investigating the ultrastructure and immunolabeling of synaptic proteins. It is evidently a suitable method for the localization of membrane proteins since the antigens are not

SNARE-fusion mediated insertion of membrane proteins into native and artificial membranes

open access: yes, 2014
Membrane proteins carry out functions such as nutrient uptake, ATP synthesis or transmembrane signal transduction. An increasing number of reports indicate that cellular processes are underpinned by regulated interactions between these proteins ...

Hydrogel Microtube Drug Carrier for Catheter‐Based Intravascular Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This paper proposes hydrogel microtube carriers composed of barium alginate gel, enabling long‐term vascular retention without interrupting blood flow. Intravascular treatments have long been attracting attention for therapeutic efficacy, yet practical delivery methods remained unestablished.

Functional Analysis of AtVAMP714 gene in Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
An activation tagging screen was carried out to identify gain-of-function mutants showing potential auxin defects, with the aim of identifying the new genes regulating plant development.

Dynamic transport of SNARE proteins in the Golgi apparatus

open access: yes, 2005
Localization of a membrane protein in a subcellular compartment can be achieved by its retention in the compartment or by its continuous transport toward this compartment.

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

SNARE-CNN: a 2D convolutional neural network architecture to identify SNARE proteins from high-throughput sequencing data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Deep learning has been increasingly and widely used to solve numerous problems in various fields with state-of-the-art performance. It can also be applied in bioinformatics to reduce the requirement for feature extraction and reach high performance. This

Immunoinflammatory Mechanisms and Biocompatibility of Bioactive Dental Biomaterials: From Fundamental Insights to Clinical Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐host dialogue at the implant interface governs biological fate and osseointegration. Surface physicochemical properties of titanium (Ti) dental implants, including microgrooves, nanopatterns, nanotopography, roughness, and wettability, modulate the initial adsorption of proteins and the formation of a dynamic biointerface.

Mechanisms of SNARE proteins in membrane fusion

open access: yes
Soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors (SNAREs) are a family of small conserved eukaryotic proteins that mediate membrane fusion between organelles and with the plasma membrane.

SNARE-ing the structures of Sec1/Munc18 proteins

open access: yes, 2014
Membrane fusion is essential for cellular transport in eukaryotes. Abnormalities contribute to a wide range of diseases including diabetes and neurological disorders.
