A compendium of extracellular vesicle biogenesis inhibitors: From bench to bedside

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 4, July 2026.
This review explores a decade of research on extracellular vesicles (EVs), detailing their biogenesis and roles in health and disease. It emphasizes EVs' relevance for potential medical applications covering various conditions such as cancer, neurodegeneration, inflammation, and infectious diseases, bridging experimental findings with clinical ...

Vacuolization as a Novel Approach to Cancer Therapy

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review discusses the novel strategy of inducing vacuole formation in cancer cells using small molecules, that induce nonapoptotic cell death mechanisms, such as paraptosis, oncosis, autophagy, and methuosis, and its potential in overcoming resistance to apoptosis‐based cancer therapies.

Cryoimmunoelectron microscopic localization of synaptic proteins in nerve terminals and astrocytic cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In the present study the cryo-immunogold technique was used and optimized for investigating the ultrastructure and immunolabeling of synaptic proteins. It is evidently a suitable method for the localization of membrane proteins since the antigens are not

Pathways of Protein Secretion in Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This graphical abstract delineates noncanonical protein secretion systems across eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Eukaryotic UcPS covers four ER–Golgi bypass pathways, enabling rapid leaderless protein export via direct transmembrane translocation or vesicle‐mediated release.

Of proteins and lipids: A molecular dynamics study of membrane-bound Rab5. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cellular trafficking involves spatially distinct organelles which are related by a sophisticated vesicular transport system. Vesicles from the plasma membrane are transported to early endosomes, which serve as sorting stations directing cargo either to

Comparison of the expression patterns of genes coding for wheat gluten proteins and proteins involved in the secretory pathway in developing caryopses of wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The synthesis of gluten proteins in the developing caryopsis of wheat is highly coordinated, with mRNAs for the various groups being detected from 11 days after anthesis, and the proteins from about 14 days. In contrast, the levels of transcripts for BiP,

Cloning and characterisation of genes determining pod morphology in pea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Genes expressed in developing pea pods were isolated as cDNAs by differential screening techniques. The cDNAs were characterised by DNA sequencing and expression studies were used to investigate the role of isolated cDNAs in pod development.

Extracellular Vesicle‐Delivered tRF‐His‐GTG‐1 Reprograms Neutrophil Lipophagy and Triggers Inflammation in COVID‐19

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
This study identifies platelet‐derived extracellular vesicles as key immunometabolic regulators in COVID‐19. The delivery of tRF‐His‐GTG‐1 to neutrophils activates TLR8mTOR signaling, disrupts lipophagy, and amplifies NET‐mediated inflammation. Importantly, targeting this axis restores neutrophil homeostasis, offering a potential therapeutic strategy ...

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 2, Page 268-278, February 2026.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

GTPase activity of RAB5 as a timer for endocytic membrane fusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
THE GTPase cycle is a versatile regulatory mechanism directing many cell functions(1), and Rab family members use it to regulate intracellular transport(2-4).
